Sondheim's macabre musical Sweeney Todd, arrives in Brazil. The show opened on March in Sao Paulo for a short season and takes place on the 033 Rooftop of Teatro Santander. With direction by Ze Henrique de Paula, the Brazilian production stars Rodrigo Lombardi (Sweeney), Andrezza Massei (Mrs. Lovett), and Mateus Ribeiro (Tobias Ragg).

Claudia Raia and Jarbas Homem de Mello are ready to return to the stage: Conserto Para Dois, O Musical opens in Sao Paulo on October 1st, at Teatro Procopio Ferreira. Starring Lu Campos, the show also features the award-winning Eduardo Silva and opens at SESC Belenzinho, in February.

Last night, The Metrograph in New York City hosted a special NYC/Broadway Screening of Netflix's new musical drama series, Soundtrack.

With direction by Miguel Falabella, The Merry Widow will debut on 14th, and will be staged in Portuguese until the 24th of November. Altogether there will be 10 recites, and the presentations on Sundays will have a unique value of R $ 20 for all sectors.

Chaves - Um Tributo Musical has its premiere scheduled for August 23 at Teatro Opus (Shopping Villa-Lobos), in Sao Paulo.

Billy Elliot o Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Elton John, and the book and lyrics are by Lee Hall, who wrote the film's screenplay. The plot revolves around Billy, a motherless British boy who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The story of his personal struggle and fulfillment are balanced against a counter-story of family and community strife caused by the 1984-85 UK miners' strike in County Durham, in North Eastern England. Hall's screenplay was inspired in part by A. J. Cronin's 1935 novel about a miners' strike, The Stars Look Down, to which the musical's opening song pays homage.

Glamour, power and greed in the musical that made history on Broadway. This is 'Sunset Boulevard', a super production that premiered on March 22 at Teatro Santander, Sao Paulo, and marks the return to the stages of one of the most beloved Brazilian theater duo: Marisa Orth and Daniel Boaventura. Red Bull Theater begins performances tonight Tuesday March 19th for John Webster's The White Devil at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street between Bleecker & Hudson Streets). Opening Night is set for March 31st. The limited Off-Broadway engagement will continue through April 14th.

Directed by Joao Fonseca, musical direction by Thiago Gimenes and versions to Portuguese by Rafael Oliveira, the production, which relates in a different and special way the last years of the relationship lived by Cathy and Jamie, is a success in several countries and now opens in Brazil.
