Gingold Theatrical Group's 13th Season of Project Shaw, a special series of evenings offering some of Shaw's greatest works and those of his contemporaries, presented monthly at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy, continued on June 18th with Buoyant Billions, one of Shaw's wittiest and least known plays.

Rubicon Theatre Company celebrates Black History Month with THE DEVIL'S MUSIC: THE LIFE AND BLUES OF BESSIE SMITH, starring singer and actress Miche Braden of the original Off-Broadway production (named one of the 10 Best Off-Broadway productions of the year by the N.Y. Daily Times). Described by CBC as a, "bawdy, bluesy, boozy rollicking night out at the theatre," the show follows the life, loves and career of blues and jazz singer Bessie Smith, called the "Empress of the Blues." 

Gloucester Stage Company continues its 37th season of professional theater on Cape Ann with a limited run of Jason Robert Brown's Songs For A New World from August 4 through August 27 at 267 East Main Street, Gloucester, MA. Songs For A New World with music and lyrics by three time Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown is a stirring musical journey examining the moments of decision and difficult choices faced in everyday life. Known for such Broadway hits as Parade, The Bridges of Madison County, Honeymoon in Vegas, and The Last Five Years, Mr. Brown artfully blends pop, jazz and gospel in solos and ensemble styles to create this inspiring song cycle.  Directed by Gloucester Stage Artistic Director Robert Walsh, the production features five singers including Tony Award nominee Barbara Walsh, Broadway veterans Rockport's Wendy Waring and Jack Donahue, Berklee College of Music graduate Chris Pittman and  Brandeis' Nyah Macklin, all four in their Gloucester Stage debut. According to Director and GSC Artistic Director Walsh, "Songs For A New World is an enthralling evening of storytelling through song and movement reminiscent of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. We are so fortunate to have such a talented group of actor-singers to bring this work to our audience. It's a particular treat to work with my cousin Barbara again after so many years!  Wendy, Jack, Chris and Nyah are also incredibly fun, hugely talented and all working together in such a fun way - it's a thrill!'

In 1948, a decade before Motown, black businessman and entrepreneur John Dolphin opened his soon-to-be world famous Dolphin's of Hollywood record store in South Los Angeles, just off legendary Central Avenue. Bringing this little-known slice of L.A. history to life on stage, the world premiere of Recorded in Hollywood opens at the Lillian Theatre on April 11. ANNIE, the new production of the Tony Award-winning musical, went into rehearsal today in New York City with its full company. The production begins previews October 3, 2012 and opens November 8, 2012 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). Meet the full cast below!

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the U.S. premiere of Alan Ayckbourn's new comedy, Life of Riley. Directed by Richard Seer, Life of Riley will run in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of The Old Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, April 30 - June 5. Preview performances run April 30 - May 4. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will close its 2010 Season with the American East Coast and regional premiere of British author Dodie Smith's I Capture The Castle, a stage adaption of Smith's 1948 popular coming-of-age novel.

Grammy Award-winner and platinum-selling recording artist Melissa Manchester joined the cast of The Town Hall's Broadway Musicals of 1948 on Monday, March 22. Continuing the 10th Anniversary celebration of The Town Hall's Broadway by the Year ® concert series, Manchester joined the cast of musical theater performers celebrating shows that graced Broadway stages in 1948, including Cole Porter's classic Kiss Me Kate and Frank Loesser's Where's Charley?. The show was hosted, created and written for The Town Hall by Scott Siegel.

Set in French Guiana, a region where on Christmas Eve the temperature has graciously dropped to 104 degrees, three amiable convicts are employed as roofers above the Ducotel's general store. The roof winds up being the least of the family's troubles.
