Hairspray on Stage Videos - US Tour

Casting for the title role in the new Disney musical HERCULES in Hamburg was announced at an event open to the press yesterday. Benét Monteiro will take on the role of Hercules, and his single version of Go The Distance will also be released on all streaming platforms on Friday. Bringing the hit musical to life for Nashville audiences, which will include a large contingent of alumni in town for homecoming (Hairspray runs November 3-6 in Collins Auditorium on the David Lipscomb University campus), the large ensemble of more than 40 actors are hard at work, sharpening their skills, running lines, rehearsing like it's nobody's business and immersing themselves in plenty of 1960s pop culture and nostalgia.

The Broadway premiere of David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre, starring Patrick Stewart and T.R. SAN DIEGO REPERTORY THEATRE in partnership with THE SAN DIEGO SCHOOL OF CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS (SCPA) is proud to present Southern California's first regional production of the hit musical comedy HAIRSPRAY. For the first time in local theatre history, high school students from SCPA will join professional actors on stage for this big fat, gorgeous musical. Directed by San Diego REP Artistic Director SAM WOODHOUSE with assistance from SCPA's Artistic Director RICHARD TRUJILLO, the REP's presentation of HAIRSPRAY will mark the first time the musical has been produced as a regional theatre production in Southern California. Performances continue through Sunday, August 15, 2010.

Last night, July 19, Barack and Michelle Obama celebrated the arts, innovation and creativity with the Broadway Celebration: In Performance at the White House event, featuring top Broadway talent including Nathan Lane, Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald, Brian D'Arcy James, Chad Kimball, Tonya Pinkins, Marvin Hamlisch, Karen Olivo, and Assata Alston. The event was streamed live on BroadwayWorld.

BWW Exclusive: After 7 years on the road, the National Tour of the Tony® Award-winning hit broadway musical HAIRSPRAY played its final show in Riverside, CA over the weekend of April 24-25, 2010. In a video exclusively produced for BroadwayWorld, cast member Kyle Kleiboeker (Fender) gives us an inside look backstage for a behind-the-scenes peek at how this cast prepares for the show. The German cast of HAIRSPRAY appeared on the TV Show 'Wetten, Daas...?' on December 5, 2009 to celebrate the opening of the new production. The show is currently booked through 31 March 2010 at the Musical Dome in Cologne, Germany.
