Your Theatre, the professional division of The Highwood Theatre, is thrilled to present the world premiere of RIOT, a new, original play devised entirely by the cast and creative team. This groundbreaking production is part of Highwood's 3rd annual Open Source Theatre Project, which focuses on collaboration to explore non-traditional theatre experiences. This engaging, audience-immersive performance centers around an event which residents of the DC area are all too familiar with: a protest. Dealing with relevant issues such as race, discrimination and class inequality, RIOT gives the audience a chance to voice their opinions throughout the show to guide the choices characters make and steer the direction of the plot. Jones/Arnie Zane Company return to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) to present the West Coast premiere of Analogy/Dora: Tramontane, a portrait of perseverance, resourcefulness, and resilience. This new performance is based on an oral history Jones conducted with his 95-year-old mother-in-law Dora Amelan, a French-Jewish nurse and social worker and survivor of World War II. Analogy/Dora began 12 years ago as a gift Jones created for his longtime collaborator and husband, Bjorn Amelan, and his family. The opening scene of Underground Railway Theatre's must see production of The Convert, Danai Gurira's three hour intoxicating drama about 19th century Africa post-colonialism, is spoken in the native language of Shona.
