On the immediate surface, QUIXOTE NUEVO is a feast for the senses. On a deeper level, the play explores relevant issues, particularly those affecting the Latinx community. Sandwiched in between, however, is a distracting use of sophomoric humor that slightly threatens to counter all of the good messaging the play attempts to push forward.

During the month of August, thousands flock to Edinburgh, Scotland to take part in the world’s largest performing arts festival, the annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe or “The Fringe.” Taking place during a three-week period, the festival transforms Edinburgh into one of the most active cities in Europe with local, national and international artists performing throughout the city all day, every day. The festival has been taking place in Edinburgh for seventy-five years, starting when eight theatre companies arrived uninvited to the Edinburgh International Festival, an elite theatre festival, and were not allowed to perform. Determined to showcase their work, these eight companies took up residence in local venues, such as pubs, hotels, basements and restaurants, performing their shows on the fringe of the Edinburgh International Festival. From that moment the Edinburgh Festival Fringe was born!

The Boston Pops has announced details for the 2022 Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular, which returns to the stage of the Hatch Shell at the Charles River Esplanade for the first time since 2019. The performance will take place on Monday, July 4, 8-11 p.m.

It is a story that couldn't be completely told until the final curtain fell. On Sunday, April 25th, 2021, Sarasota Opera concluded its 62nd season with a fully staged performance of Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas to a live audience filling 20% of the seating capacity of the Sarasota Opera House.

It's hardly a secret that during the Met's shutdown, the company has been treating audiences with nightly telecasts of everything from the company's current 'Live In HD' series to some scratchy videos that still had decent sound. The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and the preservation of musical gems from the past, as part of its acclaimed Developmental Reading Series, will present the staged reading of the new musical The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, with book and lyrics by David Spencer (The Fabulist), music Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors), and based on the novel by Mordecai Richler, for two performances only Monday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (619 Lexington Avenue, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

People's Light is delighted to announce the headliners for the upcoming world premiere of Lights Out: Nat 'King' Cole by Colman Domingo and Patricia McGregor, slated to open the Theatre's season in October 2017. Emmy-nominated actor Dule Hill (The West Wing) will play Cole, and Broadway regular Daniel J. Watts will appear as Sammy Davis, Jr.

Borogravia is at war. Again. When Polly Perks' brother goes missing in action, she cuts off her hair, stuffs a sock down her breeches, and enlists, hoping to find him. Passing successfully as a young man, she soon discovers that she's not alone in protecting a secret and that nothing in the improbable war is as it seems. Scrambling to survive both the enemy and their untried officer, Polly's misfit company makes its way to the front, where it might just prove to be the least likely regiment to ever win a battle. A wickedly funny look at the absurdities of war and ambiguities of identity, brought to life by a cast of eleven actors, including Lifeline Theatre ensemble members Robert Kauzlaric, Katie McLean Hainsworth, and Christopher M. Walsh.

So let's raise our glasses and offer a toast to all those theatre companies who gave us great productions in 2010, and to the upcoming 2011 theatre season!
