A star-studded countdown to the 69th Annual Tony Awards® ceremony begins on CUNY TV with the all-new special, 2015 TONY AWARDS PREVIEW, co-hosted by entertainment reporter Pat Collins and four-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein.  Collins and Fierstein team up at Sardi's in Times Square, and introduce segments consisting of clips and interviews in all of the leading categories, including Best Play, Best Musical and Best Revivals.  With exclusive interviews totaling 28 Tony nominees, the special debuts Friday, May 29 (2015) on CUNY TV* at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm; is repeated Sunday 5/31 at noon and Friday 6/5 at 10am, 3pm and 8:30pm, and returns as part of a multi-show Tony Marathon on Sunday, June 7, leading right up to the Tony Awards telecast.  Beginning May 29, the program also may be viewed anytime on www.cuny.tv.  (more...)

Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel, and Jam Theatricals just announced that Fiddler on the Roof will play The Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) and will begin performances on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 with an opening night scheduled for Thursday,December 17, 2015.  Rehearsals are set to begin Monday, September 28, 2015.  Five-time Tony Award-nominee and Drama Desk & Outer Critics Circle Award winner Danny Burstein (Cabaret, Golden Boy, Follies, South Pacific) will step into the iconic role of Tevye. Burstein will appear under the direction of Tony Award-nominated director Bartlett Sher, who was most recently nominated for a Tony Award for the current Broadway revival, The King and I.  Sher has directed Burstein on Broadway in the revivals ofGolden Boy and South Pacific. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Decca Broadway/Universal Music Classics will release the 2015 Broadway Cast Recording of the Lincoln Center Theater production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The King and I, starring Kelli O'Hara as Anna Leonowens and Ken Watanabe as the King of Siam, available digitally June 2 and physically on June 9. Ocean State Theatre Company's Producing Artistic Director, Amiee Turner, who made her Ocean State Theatre debut as the lone female writer, Carol Wyman, in last season's production of the Neil Simon comedy, Laughter on the 23rd Floor and audience favorite Christopher Swan, who received rave reviews for his portrayal as the King in OSTC's Inaugural production of The King and I, will be starring opposite one another as Rose and Herbie in OSTC's upcoming summer production of the Tony Award-winning classic American musical, Gypsy.
