BWW Review: Biting through the Dam with THE PROVIDENCE OF NEIGHBORING BODIES

Written by Jean Ann Douglass and directed by Jess Chayes, The Providence of Neighboring Bodies comes to Theater 511 (in association with Ars Nova) for its World Premiere in New York. Featuring a powerhouse cast of only three and a truly thought-provoking plot that gets more intricate the more I think about it, Providence brings a lot of great artistic decisions together in such a small space, and in so short a time. The play's two main characters are like two sides of the thought process: one side allowing the open-mindedness and electricity of life permeate its every fiber, while the other dwells on the certainty that everything about its life (in Providence) is just not very promising. With the start of his 'lots of shows in a row' tour about a month away, major international electronic musician deadmau5 has today (2/24) revealed the first of six behind-the-scenes videos with YouTube Music for Cube 2.1. The new video showcases deadmau5 and crew creatively developing his updated, custom-built cube--a kinetic version of his previous cube with many enhancements--at Tait in the middle of Amish Country, Pennsylvania (Lititz, PA). Standing at 17 ft. tall, 20 ft. wide and 31 ft. deep, making it larger than its predecessors, Cube 2.1 features internal robots that push the sides of the cube--consisting of state-of-the-art LED panels--up and around while projecting brand new graphics.  (more...)

The Armory's Associate Artistic Director Rose Riordan will direct the production. Tim Sonnefeld will provide music direction and join Weedman on stage to play guitar, along with Ji Tanzer on drums. The production will mark Weedman's debut on The Armory's U.S. Bank Main Stage.
