St. Ann's Warehouse welcomes back Kneehigh Theatre and director Emma Rice for the New York Premiere of Tristan & Yseult, the acclaimed production that catapulted the Cornwall-based company onto the national stage. Reviewing the production last year, The Guardian wrote, 'If this show doesn't make you fall in Love with theatre, there's no potion on Earth that can help you.' (more...)

BWW Review: BIRDMAN Is a Remarkable Fever Dream Worthy of Both Stage and ScreenBWW Review: BIRDMAN Is a Remarkable Fever Dream Worthy of Both Stage and Screen
by Matt Tamanini - Oct 24, 2014

Full disclosure, I like most everything that I see; be it on stage, on TV, or on film. I tend to appreciate the vision required to complete such a complicated project, the artistry to craft a new work, and the creativity to bring it to life. However, while I like the majority of shows and movies that I watch, I Love very few. I wanted to preface my review with that because, simply put, I Loved BIRDMAN. The experience of seeing this dark comedy is as close to the rush of seeing a Broadway show as any film that I can ever remember seeing, including those actually based on Broadway shows. BIRDMAN is an acting, directing, and cinematographing triumph that is sure to be rewarded throughout the upcoming awards season. (more...)

BWW Reviews: Chekov Becomes Hilarious in ACT's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKEBWW Reviews: Chekov Becomes Hilarious in ACT's VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE
by Jay Irwin - Oct 24, 2014

Sometimes a fun night is just a dead lock. Such is the case when you take three of Seattle's most gifted and seasoned actors and put them in the off kilter world of a Christopher Durang play as has happed over at ACT with their current production of "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike". I have to admit going in I had very little doubt that I would have a good time with all those elements combined and I was not disappointed. But beyond the sure thing of comedy that resulted what also emerged was a truly thoughtful and resonant look at some ways society has been brought down as it's built up. (more...)
