With just one episode left, there's, surprisingly, a lot of balls in the air this episode. This week dealt with pregnancy, wedding plans, reconciliation, and, of course, Zeek's big decision. Again, I think it's really nice that the writers are still consistently throwing stuff at us this close to the end, as it a) takes our mind off the fact that the series is ending, and b) literally keeps us glued to our seats right up until the very end. So, now to dive into our recap: (more...)

by Wendi Reichstein - Jan 21, 2015

"Mamma Mia- here I go again" weren't just familiar song lyrics I was thinking of when I walked into Bass Concert Hall Tuesday night. No, it was also literal thinking going through my head. Why? The opening night of Broadway in Austin's Mamma Mia! was my fifth time seeing the production. From seeing the first national tour back in 2002, to the dragging my dad to the production in Las Vegas, to seeing it twice more through Broadway Across America Houston before sitting in the audience at Bass, here I go again may have been the understatement of the evening. Maryland Ensemble Theatre to Present THE ARSONISTSMaryland Ensemble Theatre to Present THE ARSONISTS
by BWW News Desk - Jan 21, 2015

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) continues its seventeenth Mainstage season with the satirical dark comedy "The Arsonists" by Max Frisch, and translated by Alistair Beaton. Inspired by the Communist takeover of Czechoslovakia in 1948, this absurdist allegory satirizes the way in which people can be manipulated into accommodating their own destruction. In the play, fires are becoming something of a problem, popping up all over town, but Mr. Biedermann has it all under control. A respected member of the community, he tries to live a life of blameless middle-class decency. It is this sense of bourgeois propriety that renders Biedermann defenseless when two strangers finesse their way into his home and settle in. But when they start filling his attic with petrol drums, will he help them light the fuse? (more...)
