Cast Set for TWYLA THARP AND THREE DANCES at The Joyce Theatre

Twyla Tharp and Three Dances, the previously announced program conceived and directed by Twyla Tharp and featuring two classics and one premiere, will be presented by The Joyce Theater Foundation for two weeks next month, July 10-23, in its intimate Chelsea home, located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street. Part of the Pathways to Dance Upstate/Downstate initiative, Twyla Tharp and Three Dances will feature a company of long-time Tharp dancers along with new members.  John Selya, Matthew Dibble, Daniel Baker, Ramona Kelley, Amy Ruggiero, Eva Trapp, Nicholas Coppula, Kaitlyn Gilliland and Reed Tankersley make up the company. On the program are two Tharp classics, Brahms Paganini and Country Dances, and a new work, Beethoven Opus 130, set to Beethoven's Opus of the same title having its world premiere at Saratoga Performing Arts Center on June 30. This presentation, one of the must-see cultural events of the summer, marks the first time Tharp's company will perform on The Joyce's stage in almost 12 years. A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory to Host Summer Festival

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Young Conservatory Director Craig Slaight announced today the shows that will comprise the summer Young Conservatory (YC) Festival. Productions include the world premiere of Top of the Pyramid, a collaboration among A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory, A.C.T.'s Education & Community Programs, and Oakland's Destiny Arts Center, and Fields of Gold: The Music of Sting, a celebration of the music of singer-songwriter Sting. Top of the Pyramid will perform July 26-30, 2016, in The Rueff at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater (1127 Market Street, San Francisco) and August 5-7, 2016 at Destiny Arts Center (970 Grace Ave, Oakland). Fields of Gold: The Music of Sting will perform at A.C.T.'s Strand Theater from August 16-27, 2016. Tickets for Top of the Pyramid are $20. Tickets for Fields of Gold: The Music of Sting are $30. This Broadway musical version of Mark Twain's novel is set in 1840 in St. Petersburg, Missouri, a bustling town on the banks of the Mississippi River. In the course of the story, Tom matches wits with his stern Aunt Polly, falls in love with the beautiful, feisty Becky Thatcher, and goes on the adventure of his life with Becky and Huckleberry Finn.
