The Ruth Page Center for the Arts will hold its annual Ruth Page Gala at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 W. Jackson Blvd., Saturday, May 16. The evening begins at 5:45 p.m. with a VIP Reception, followed by dinner and entertainment from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. Gal Co-Chairs are Sasha Gerritson and Sara Stewart Schumann. The evening, hosted by WGN News Anchor Micah Materre, will include two award presentations, the Cultural Ambassador Award presented to Mesirow Financial for 'Mesirow Financial Presents!,' and the Community Partner Award presented to the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs; live performances by Artist In-Residence Ruth Page Civic Ballet; and a live auction presented by auctioneer, Bart Darfler. A highlight of the live auction will be a trip for two to Cuba as part of a cultural exchange program between the Ruth Page School of Dance and Cuba's Escuela Nacional de Ballet. (more...)

CBS Films announced today that it has acquired U.S. rights to the action heist thriller COMANCHERIA. David Mackenzie ('Starred Up') is set to direct the film from a screenplay by Taylor Sheridan ('Sicario'). Sidney Kimmel, Peter Berg (Film 44) and Julie Yorn (LBI) will produce the film with Carla Hacken and Gigi Pritzker serving as executive producers. (more...)

Producers Lorenzo Thione and Andrew Treagus announced complete casting for Allegiance, a new American musical starring George Takei, Lea Salonga and Telly Leung, set to open on Broadway next season at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street). Previews  begin on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 with opening night set for Sunday, November 8, 2015. As previously announced, Allegiance has a book by Marc Acito with music and lyrics by Jay Kuo. On Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Des Moines Symphony's 22nd annual free Yankee Doodle Pops concert on the Iowa State Capitol's West Terrace, three-time Tony Award®-winning composer JASON ROBERT BROWN will conduct the orchestra in selections from Broadway's THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, for which he wrote the music, lyrics and orchestrations.
