Join her for a reimagining of works from Janis Joplin, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Patty Griffin and more of the musical storytellers that have inspired Wicks on her journeys from coast to coast. Broadway Boys Extend LULLABY OF BROADWAY at Caser Calderon Theatre

Due to high volume of pre sale tickets, The Broadway Boys have extended their Madrid Spain sit-down to 4 weeks. The Broadway Boys will perform their touring concert 'Lullaby of Broadway' at the Caser Calderon Theatre in the heart of downtown Madrid beginning June 4. The Old Globe today announced it will present two Shakespeare-themed events. On Monday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m., Tony Award winner Roger Rees will return to the Globe for a one-night-only engagement of What You Will, his hysterical (and somewhat historical) 90-minute gallop through the world of Shakespeare. On Today, May 3 at 11:00 a.m., Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein will offer an encore of Thinking Shakespeare Live!, his 90-minute exploration of the language of Shakespeare. This fast-paced, funny, and altogether fascinating program based on Edelstein's book, Thinking Shakespeare: A How-To Guide for Student Actors, Directors, and Anyone Else Who Wants to Feel More Comfortable with the Bard, reveals a performer's approach to Shakespearean language so audiences may easily understand the poetry of the Bard. Musician/composer/lyricist Michael Patrick Walker is world premiering a new musical Dog and Pony at the Old Globe in San Diego. Walker is best known as one of the composers of the hit musical Altar Boyz. He was nominated for a 2005 Lucille Lortel Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical and for two 2005 Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and for Best Lyrics for Altar Boyz. The show also won the 2005 Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Off-Broadway Musical. Not since Carrie. A phrase that has haunted creators of musicals ever since Ken Mandelbaum's famous 1991 book that looks at 40 years of Broadway musical flops. The original Broadway production in 1988 was a disaster, partly due to the writing, but more to do with original director Terry Hands' disastrous approach and minimalist concept. Closing 5 performances after the official opening night, Carrie cleaned up its blood, but not its money and went on to become one of the most famous and financial flops (although a certain Bono-tuned superhero of recent memory has surpassed that). Broadway star of Wicked (Elphaba) and Jekyll and Hyde (Emma Carew), Wicks brings a night of songs inspired by folk, rock, soul and blues to 54 Below, with an acoustic set led by the visionary Jasper Grant (musical director of The Color Purple, Altar Boyz). Join her for a reimagining of works from Janis Joplin, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Patty Griffin and more of the musical storytellers that have inspired Wicks on her journeys from coast to coast. Lipuma announce Writers Theatre's World Premiere production of Days Like Today, with music and lyrics by Alan Schmuckler and book by Laura Eason, directed by Artistic Director Michael Halberstam, music direction by Doug Peck and choreography by Tommy Rapley.
