Based on the play by Arthur Kopit

Emily was an aviatrix who fearlessly walked on the wings of the family biplane. Just as she once plummeted dizzyingly through space, she is now falling through inner space as the result of a stroke. This extraordinary musical takes us inside Emily’s mind as she finds the light at the end of the tunnel in the cave of her memory. With breathtaking simplicity, WINGS charts her recovery as she regains her spirit to achieve new heights. Starring Ann Crumb. Directed by Jesse Cline.

BWW Blog: Jennifer Weber - I Can Do That: A CHORUS LINE Review
by Guest Blogger: Jennifer Weber - Jul 27, 2016

5,6,7,8Â… Everyone start stretching and get out your headshots, A Chorus Line is a part of the summer season at the Hemmens and it couldn't be more exciting! While the audience begins to find their seats and chatter still fills the room, the show begins with the cast arriving to the audition. Some are stretching, chatting with friends, and of course taking selfies. In other musicals I would think, what is happening? But with A Chorus Line this production is all about the audition process and the little things matter. The design team had an easy time with this one compared to last summer's Rent production. The stage is set like it would appear any time of day with lights in the Wings, chairs scattered off to the side, and four individual mirrors that three appear to be transparent (and make for some interesting dance numbers). BWW Blog: Emma VanDevelde - The Theatre That Raised Me
by Guest Blogger: Emma VanDeVelde - Jul 25, 2016

Last night at 501 Queens Road in Charlotte NC, the sound of laughter shattered the confines of the 13-row theater by transporting the audience into the world of 'The Drowsy Chaperone.' This musical, put on by Theatre Charlotte's Student Theatre Guild is the 5th STG musical and the 8th TC production I've had the privilege of being a part of. In August of 2009 my feet entered Theatre Charlotte's doors for the first time. I smelled its smell. I stood in its Wings. I accepted its welcoming invitation to audition for those 13 empty rows-all for the very first time. Little did I know that this audition for 'Annie' would mark the beginning of a beautiful relationship between a little girl with a dream and a little white theater awaiting a dream to foster. Little did I know that this smell would become my haven, these Wings would become my comfort and this tiny theater would become my own little corner of the world. (more...)

BWW Review: TINK! Soars Beyond Neverland
by Juan Michael Porter II - Aug 10, 2016

'OMG! Mom and Dad are being such phonies, so I'm going to run away and marry a pirate. Before you think about that too much, let me distract you with this show-stopping production number!' Actually 'TINK!' wasn't as vacuous as all that, though - true to the exclamation point in its title - it did tend to deliver narrative details in bold plot points. Still, Tony Marino's barrel-of-laughs filled book, aided by Lena Gabrielle's tuneful score, with an assist from Greg Kerestan on lyrics ensured that 'TINK!' stood out as one of the more delectable treats in this year's New York Musical Festival smorgasbord.
