Based on the play by Arthur Kopit

Emily was an aviatrix who fearlessly walked on the wings of the family biplane. Just as she once plummeted dizzyingly through space, she is now falling through inner space as the result of a stroke. This extraordinary musical takes us inside Emilyís mind as she finds the light at the end of the tunnel in the cave of her memory. With breathtaking simplicity, WINGS charts her recovery as she regains her spirit to achieve new heights. Starring Ann Crumb. Directed by Jesse Cline.

Lupe Anguiano Biography, 'Uncompromised', is Released
by BWW News Desk - Mar 6, 2017

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., March 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Uncompromised: The Lupe Anguiano Story is now available on One of America's unsung heroes, Lupe spent her life serving others and following her strong Catholic faith. She spent her childhood picking fruit with her family and, after graduating high school, decided to become a missionary nun. She found herself at odds with the church because she took a literal interpretation of Vatican II, which Pope John XXIII introduced in 1962. 'This Pope was really strong, and in examining the social teachings of the church, made statements that challenged nuns and priests to minister to the people, not asking them to leave religious life, but to get out of their comfort zones and go out and minister to people like Christ did. He told us not to be afraid to be witnesses to what's right and what's wrong. This was a major change for the Roman Catholic Church. Well, that just gave me Wings!' said Lupe. As a habit-wearing nun, Lupe picketed in front of the Cardinal of Los Angeles in 1963 to protest the church's tolerance of the racially discriminatory practice of 'Redlining.' After 15 years, Lupe left the Order to better serve the people. She helped the poor in East LA and developed a teen program for gang members that turned lives around and produced a number of Latino leaders of California. She helped Cesar Chavez with the Great Grape Boycott and so much more. (more...)

BWW Review: Sally Field Stars In Sam Gold's Exquisite Production of THE GLASS MENAGERIE
by Michael Dale - Mar 12, 2017

One of the great things about live theatre is its lack of permanence. In film, the words, directorial choices, performances and other artistic contributions all exist as an unchangeably whole work of art. But with theatre, each production of a play, no matter how many times it has been done before, begins with only the author's text, leaving a new collection of creative souls to decide what to do with it. BWW Review: STATION ELEVEN by Emily St. John Mandel
by Bonnie Lynn Wagner - Mar 10, 2017

There is so much to say about STATION ELEVEN, and so little that can be shared without revealing spoilers. STATION ELEVEN is a book that unfurls slowly, one that introduces you to a multitude of characters and slips all of the puzzle pieces together later. It's interesting that Erin Morgenstern blurbed the novel because in her own debut, THE NIGHT CIRCUS, she also has a way of unfurling the story to move it along. Slowly, softly, but with great impact. It's been 80 years since Bessie Smith, the celebrated Empress of the Blues, died a lonely death, after an auto accident on a desolate Mississippi road. Contrary to legend, Smith did not bleed to death after being refused admission to a white Southern hospital. That story was related to Down Beat magazine by Columbia Records impresario John Hammond, who later apologized, saying that it was all based on hearsay. But her injuries were severe enough so that when she was taken to the nearest hospital (which happened to be one that accepted blacks), that she was beyond saving, and died at the young age of 43.
