Los Angeles Master Chorale Presents WADE IN THE WATER, 4/30

The Los Angeles Master Chorale puts spirituals at the forefront of a concert called “Wade in the Water” to be performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday, April 30 at 7 PM. The concert features 13 songs with the spirituals juxtaposed with other folk music traditions such as early American shape note singing, as well as a contemporary Korean piece, and a pair of European choral masterpieces from the 20th century. The concert will feature 48 singers performing a cappella, conducted by Artistic Director Grant Gershon and Assistant Conductor Jenny Wong. The concert also provides an opportunity to highlight several of the Master Chorale's solo voices on the program.

Following wildly successful runs in Paris and New York, four-time Tony Award-winning An American in Paris is currently previewing at London's Dominion Theatre and is set to officially open in just over a week's time. It brings with it original cast members Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope to star as Jerry and Lise, with the rest of the cast including Zoe Rainey, Jane Asher, Haydn Oakley and David Seadon-Young.

Grusomhetens Teater--Norwegian for 'The Theater of Cruelty' (a nod to Antonin Artaud)--is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. This independent, Oslo-based theater troupe will make its North American debut at La MaMa this weekend, March 2 to 5, with 'The Mountain Bird' (Fjeldfuglen) by Henrik Ibsen, its celebrated staging of a romantic 1859 opera libretto by the great giant of Norwegian theater. The production contains a critically acclaimed original score by contemporary composer Filip Sande and is the company's longest-running show. Scroll down for photos and footage of the piece!

Masterworks Chorale to Honor Don Nixon This March

In 2004, Masterworks Chorale celebrated the opening of Coweta County's Centre for the Performing and Visual Arts. Now, 13 years later, on March 26, Masterworks is again marking a milestone in the life of the Centre with a concert entitled 'A Musical Tribute to the Vision of Donald W. Nixon,' the late Director and the man behind the founding and success of Coweta County's priceless jewel.
