Los Robles Master Chorale Presents A JOYFUL NOISE!, 12/18
Los Robles Master Chorale (LRMC), one of Southern California's premier choirs, caps the holiday season with "A Joyful Noise!", a family-friendly concert led by Artistic Director Lesley Leighton showcasing John Rutter's ebullient Gloria and a LRMC-commissioned world premiere by Jasper Randall, as well as holiday gems and favorite Christmas carols, on Sunday, December 18, 2016, 4 pm, at Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum. The three-movement Gloria, an evergreen brimming with freshness, is noted for its sheer beauty and was described by Rutter himself as "a bright Latin-flavored fiesta." The 105-voice chorus also performs Printz's Sing with Joy, Sing Noel!; Burt's Some Children See Him, Mendelssohn's Weihnachten, Op. 79, No. 1; Ruth Morris Gray's No Room, No Room; and three works by Shawn Kirchner - Bright Morning Stars, Brightest and Best and Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming. Adding to the festive musical cheer are exquisite arrangements of such beloved carols as O Little Town of Bethlehem, Little Drummer Boy, Do You Hear What I Hear and Hark, The Herald Angels Sing!
"Choral music is a quintessential part of the holidays," says Leighton. "And Los Robles Master Chorale's concert is geared for people of all ages so everyone can savor the musical joy."
Los Robles Master Chorale (LRMC) is lauded for its "robust choral tapestry" (Artillery). Celebrating a rich legacy and hailed for its remarkable sound, striking versatility, and commitment to commissioning new choral works, the Ventura County-based chorus harnesses the power of music to enrich the lives of people of all ages. With repertoire ranging from early music and great choral masterworks to folk, contemporary and world music, LRMC presents its own concert series each season and performs with leading music organizations across the Southland in such iconic venues as Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl and Royce Hall. The chorale has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New West Symphony and Ventura Symphony, among others.
Tickets, on sale now, are $29; $22 for seniors; and $18 for students. Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza's Scherr Forum is located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91363. For tickets and information, please call (805) 526-7464 or visit www.losroblesmasterchorale.org.
