PASSION, winner of 4 Tony Awards including Best Music and Lyrics, Best Book, and Best Musical, features music and lyrics by the acclaimed Stephen Sondheim (Sweeney Todd, West Side Story, Company, Follies, Into The Woods, Gypsy) and book by James Lapine (Falsettos, Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park With George).





PASSION opened on Broadway in 1994, and received its London revival in 2010 at the Donmar Warehouse as part of Stephen Sondheim's 80th birthday celebrations.



Stephen Sondheim's PASSION revolves around a handsome Italian solider, Giorgio, separated from his beautiful mistress, who is shattered and ultimately changed by the unconditional and obsessive love of Fosca, his Colonel's chronically ill and plain cousin. Her unrelenting passions force him to re-evaluate his beliefs about love and attraction between two human beings.

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) is proud to present 'A Night of Beautiful Music' performed by HBO 'Sopranos' star and 'Godfather' actor Dominic Chianese tonight, April 11, at 7 p.m. Dominic Chianese was born in the borough of the Bronx in New York, the son of a bricklayer. His grandfather immigrated to the United States from Naples, Italy, in 1904 and settled in the Bronx. After a decade of attending college and appearing in Off-Broadway theatre, Chianese attended his first professional acting class at HB Studio in Manhattan, with renowned teacher Walt Witcover. Drama and musical theatre became Chianese's passion. His first Broadway show was 'Oliver!' in 1965. Chianese also played rhythm guitar and sang in local taverns and restaurants to supplement his income.

New York Philharmonic Set for Residencies in Shanghai, Santa Barbara This Summer

Boston, MA (For Release 12.11.14) --- The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, presents an evening dedicated to four composers of Hungarian descent – Bálint Karosi (b.1979), Kati Agócs (b.1975), György Ligeti (1923-2006) and Béla Bartók (1881-1945). Complemented by the innovative all-female vocal group Lorelei Ensemble, BMOP performs the world premieres of Karosi's Existentia—in memory of Sándor Weöres (commissioned by BMOP) and Agócs's The Debrecen Passion, as well as Ligeti's Violin Concerto (1990) featuring violinist Gabriela Diaz, and Bartók's Three Village Scenes (1926).

PITTSBURGH — Passion, fascination, intrigue and romance await you at Heinz Hall during BNY Mellon Grand Classics: A Night in Russia on January 30 through February 1. Guest conductor Krzysztof Urba?ski, music director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, makes his debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra during this subscription weekend. He leads a program that includes the Pittsburgh premiere of Prokofiev's Russian Overture, a solo by Concertmaster Noah Bendix-Balgley in a concerto by Khachaturian, and Ravel's orchestration of Mussorgsky's “Pictures at an Exhibition,” a piece originally written for solo piano that is now one of the great orchestral works.

In this "witty, deeply enjoyable family drama" (The New York Times) Brooke announces to her prominent Republican parents she is about to publish a memoir on an explosive chapter in the family's history, drawing a line in the Palm Springs sand and daring them all to cross it. As Baitz brings dysfunctional family drama to blazingly witty and gripping new heights, NCTC's intimate Decker Theatre brings the passion, drama, and superbly crafted blow darts of wit closer to the audience than ever.

In December of 2013, Geva Theatre Center was selected as a recipient of a prestigious grant from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation to create a multimedia celebration on the life and work of legendary blues guitarist, Son House. The 18-month project, entitled "A Journey to the Son," will bring together musicians, writers, artists and the area's leading regional theatre company in a "creative collision" to celebrate one of Rochester's own, Eddie "Son" House. The project will culminate in a four-day celebration in August weaving together stories, music, theatre, film, audio recordings, storytelling and lectures.

A performance of Verdi's Requiem that is a tripartite collaboration highlights the 2014-15 season of Kent Tritle, called 'New York's reigning choral conductor' by The New York Times. In an event emblematic of Kent's multiple roles in the city's choral life, he will conduct a performance of the massive work by the Oratorio Society of New York, of which he is Music Director, and the Symphony and Symphonic Chorus of the Manhattan School of Music, where he is Director of Choral Activities, in the grand space of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, where he is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist -- with a new choral configuration that features the more-than-250 singers on risers in the cathedral's Great Choir space.

Jessica Hecht, Mary Testa and Julie White Will Lead FIRST WIVES CLUB Benefit Reading

Robert Harling's screenplay to the iconic film THE FIRST WIVES CLUB will come alive in New York on October 13th, 2014 at 8pm for a one night-only benefit reading in the Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street), directed by Trip Cullman and featuring an all-star cast. The reading has been rescheduled from the original date of July 7th due to scheduling conflicts. All proceeds will benefit The Actors Fund's Phyllis Newman Women's Health Initiative, which provides "a safety net and a place to turn when women in the creative community are faced with critical health concerns." The evening is produced in arrangement with Paramount Pictures by The Indigo Theatre Project (Nick Gereffi, Artistic Director/Rachel Sussman, Executive Producer), a theater company that strives to unite passion with purpose by producing high-profile readings to benefit relevant charitable organizations. A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Launch Houston Ballet's 2014-15 Season; Lineup Announced!

From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
