The American Tap Dance Foundation (ATDF), under the artistic direction of Tony Waag, presented its 5th yearly showcase Rhythm in Motion, March 29-April 2, 2017 at the Duke on 42nd Street. The series featured two distinct programs of fresh, groundbreaking tap dance choreography, with some strong and emotional statements. This is a very interesting time for tap dance as ¬ďthe world has finally realized that tap dance and tap choreography can also test the audience, tell a story, be influenced by world issues and express anger, fear, sadness, and spirituality¬Ē said Mr. Waag, ATDF Artistic/Executive Director and curator of this show. BWW Review: NEW GIRL IN TOWN at 42nd Street Moon
by Harmony Wheeler - Apr 4, 2017

Based on playwright Eugene O'Neill's Anna Christie, Bob Merrill and George Abbott's New Girl in Town is a romance mixed with near-tragedy. Its title character's foggy past sets the ground for a beautiful story of redemption and hope, but vaudeville-style humor and dance still feel perfectly at home in this masterpiece of musical theatre. The unexpected treasure plays at 42nd Street Moon through April 16. (more...)

BWW Review: 42ND STREET, Theatre Royal Drury Lane
by Marianka Swain - Apr 4, 2017

The curtain rises just high enough to reveal a long line of tapping feet: a thoroughly appropriate intro, as those feet are the real stars of the show. The plot might centre around a leading lady battle, but this loving backstage fairy tale is really a paean to the chorus - the hard-working, unceasingly toe-tapping foundation upon which musical comedy ('the two most glorious words in the English language,' per the show) is built.
