Performance Network Theatre Restores Phone System, Database; Kicks Off 3-Day Ticket Sale

Ann Arbor's professional theater, Performance Nework, recently announced its 32nd anniversary season, sparking great interest and excitement in the Ann Arbor community. And then its phone system went down. And then its online ticketing system crashed, leaving patrons with literally no way to buy the tickets they so desired. This week, after a nail-biting journey for staff and patrons, both the phone system and the database have been restored, and Performance Network is offering a special thank you to its stalwart fans for their patience, making tickets to its entire upcoming season available for a whopping 32% discount - in honor of its 32nd season. The Lost Treasures Collection, a series of rarely performed musical gems, is back for a fourth season at Lakewood Theatre Company. This year three musicals, featuring a theme of strong women, will be presented in a concert/cabaret style. The first offering, High Spirits will have only 3 performances, Friday, October 18 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM. To say that Bill Nolte is 'Tony Esposito' is the understatement of the year. If you don't get misty eyed during his 'Mama, Mama' or in the last 15 minutes of this show, I will buy you a drink at the Gelston House after the show (Hey Goodspeed, I can borrow that corporate credit card just in case right?). Bill is also one hell of a great guy and someone you'd just love to sit down and enjoy a glass of wine with for the stories alone. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's Lend Us Your Ears play reading series concludes its 2013 offerings with a reading of The Madwoman of Chaillot on Monday, November 11th at 7:00 p.m. Written by Jean Giraudoux and adapted by Maurice Valency, this eerily prescient, eccentric post-war comedy pits the common people of Paris against a conglomerate of financiers determined to destroy the City of Lights and profit from the reputed oil fields lying beneath its streets. The reading will take place at The Shakespeare Theatre's Main Stage, the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. (at Lancaster Road) in Madison. At this year's dinner and holiday party set for tonight, Dancers Over 40 honors some of our outstanding - and long-time -- members: Advisory Board Members Chita Rivera (West Side Story, Bye, Bye Birdie, Bajour, Chicago, The Rink, Kiss of the Spiderwoman), and Bob Avian (Promises, Promises, Coco, Company, Follies, A Chorus Line, Ballroom), Board of Directors member Lawrence Merritt (Dear World, Applause, Pippin, Evita), and long-time DO40 members Skip Randall (Song of Norway, Make Mine Manhattan, Call Me Mister) and Louise Quick (Sweet Charity, Pippin, Best Little Whorehouse, and Fosse Assistant on Pippin, Liza with a Z and Cabaret). Also this year, DO40 is honoring Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Executive Director Tom Viola for his ongoing support of DO40 and our mission.
