Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Rebecca Gilman will mark her 10th production at Goodman Theatre, her longtime creative home, with Swing State—directed by Tony Award-winner Robert Falls in their 6th collaboration over 35 years. Swing State appears October 7 – November 13 in the 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre.

Times Square Arts will present Georgia by Brandon Kazen-Maddox and Up Until Now Collective for the month of July as part of the organization's signature Midnight Moment series. Midnight Moment is the world's largest, longest-running digital art exhibition, synchronized on over 75 electronic billboards throughout Times Square nightly.

The criteria are that these shows have been nominated for Best Musical from the 3rd Tony Awards (the ceremony that started the Best Musical category) in 1949 to the nominations of what will now be the 74th Tony Awards in 2021. I will be determining their signs based upon their Broadway premiere date. With those rules in mind, here we go!

Sadly, the 2020 Olivier Awards won't be going ahead as planned due to the coronavirus shutdown, although ITV will broadcast a highlights show. So, BroadwayWorld reviewers have been thinking back to some of our favourite Oliviers winners, nominees and performances from past years - plus some of the incredible nominees from this year who we would have loved to see honoured.

I'm only recently discovering my own musical identity outside of the things I listened to in my parents' cars growing up. I discovered The Secret Sisters around the same time I discovered horror movies, around the same time I discovered a new kind of higher-stakes storytelling. “You Don't Own Me Anymore” was a masterclass in harmony and tension. It was a collection of those kinds of higher-stakes stories; the haunting beauty of a song about murdering your child taught me more about writing a character than pretty much any play or movie or TV show I've ever watched; naming and admonishing Davey White on “He's Fine” showed me an unapologetic way to channel anger and heartbreak. The whole album shrieks unapology, except it's not shrieking; it's speaking quietly but pointedly, in harmony and in unity. The title song is anthemic. It's feminine angst; less loud but more directly expressive than any other album of its kind I'd ever heard.

Australian rock band, Violent Soho, have announced that they've signed to Pure Noise Records. To celebrate the recent partnership, they've released a new single and video, entitled 'Lying On The Floor.' This follows the releases of singles 'A-OK' and 'Vacation Forever.'
