For his starring role in Netflix's groundbreaking first original series, Lilyhammer, actor/musician Steven Van Zandt explored uncharted waters as a New York mobster who flees to Norway under the witness protection program. In addition to acting in, co-writing and co-producing the acclaimed show, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also scored the music for most of the three seasons, where just like his character, the musician best known as Little Steven of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and an accomplished solo artist who helped pioneer the rock-meets-soul sound, also delved into some terrain foreign to him: the worlds of New York jazz and Norwegian folk music.

Dick through the dynamic power of science fiction film, is returning for its seventh outing with a full schedule of events. Dick through the dynamic power of science fiction film, is returning for its seventh outing with a full schedule of events. For the first time since its inception, the festival will hold a bi-coastal gathering presenting a lineup of films, premieres and panels for audiences in New York City, Los Angeles and Santa Ana, CA. The ambitious endeavor will provide a platform for independent filmmakers who tackle a variety of themes that empower the narratives of Philip K. Dick, whose work continues to serve as a profound mark on the literary and entertainment worlds.

Over eight million people have already lived to tell the tale of one of the most successful - and terrifying - theatre events ever staged,and Chicagoans are no exception. THE WOMAN IN BLACK- London's long-running West End play - has only three weeks left in its Chicago run before the production makes its way to the Seattle Repertory Theatre at the end of February. Complete with all the stage thrills that have led audiences in London to shriek in fear for 30 years, this chilling performance is one that has illuminated the mainstage at the Royal George Theatre after a dark period of nearly three years and will continue to do so until its final Chicago performance on February 17. 

"She's a maniac, a maniac, on the floor. And she's dancing like she's never before," as the song echoed throughout the speakers, the audience held their breath as their eyes followed the dynamic movements of the dancer. As the song reached its climax, so did the dancer, who now sat on a chair and with a pull of a handle, water fell on her, enacting the iconic scene of FLASHDANCE. After receiving much love and attention at the 2018 DIMF(Daegu International Musical Festival), FLASHDANCE came back for its first tour in Korea. Starting from the first performance in Seoul on January 18, the company would be performing in 5 different cities throughout Korea until March 24th.

On a night known for loud screams, heightened anticipation and thrilling performances by some of the nation's most talented athletes, THE WOMAN IN BLACK is inviting guests to wear their favorite NFL team's jersey to receive tickets for just $39 at the door on Sunday, February 3 at 2:30 p.m. Guests are also encouraged to let their scream fill the theatre in an exclusive contest judged by the cast just following the performance. An experience surely not to miss, the production has been called "Spectacular" by the Chicago Sun-Times, and dubbed "A ghost story everyone will love," by the Chicago Tribune's Chris Jones, receiving rave reviews from critics across the board. 

The McCallum Theatre presents Paul Anka and "Anka Sings Sinatra" for two performances. The Thursday, January 31, performance at 8:00pm is presented through the generosity of Paul and Carol Hill. The Friday, February 1, performance at 8:00pm is presented through the generosity of Henry and Carol Levy and Ron and Aviva Snow. A note from Paul: "The Anka Sings Sinatra tour will honor a great artist who has influenced me more than anyone else throughout my career, Frank Sinatra. It will also feature the hits that have spanned my career on this 60th anniversary year. It will be a night filled with his songs, my songs, my way!"

Due to the tremendous response UK prog ensemble The Gardening Club received for the reissue of their 1983 self-titled album last year, the band has released a brand new album! The new Gardening Club album, “The Riddle” was recorded at producer/guitarist Norm Macpherson's Garry Oak Studios in Metchosin British Columbia. This location surrounded by forest and close to the Pacific Ocean, was ideal for writing and recording the new record.

The classic comic face, Arsenic and Old Lace, by Joseph Kesserlring is kicking off Meadow Brook Theatre's 53rd season is opening this week and running through October 28th in Rochester. Two sweet, older ladies who look like they wouldn't hurt a fly have been adding a dash of something special to their elderberry wine - poison. But what happens when their nephew, his fiancee, his uncle (who thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt), and a bunch of other colorful characters come to visit? Hysterical chaos, that's what! BroadwayWorld Detroit had chance to talk with director, Travis W. Walter, and Mary Robin Roth, who plays the role of Abby, about the hilarious Arsenic and Old Lace before it opens this week.

Dick clark productions and ABC announced an all-star lineup of soul and gospel legends who will come together to pay homage to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, at the "2018 American Music Awards." Gladys Knight, Ledisi, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans, friends of the late, luminary singer/songwriter, will take the AMAs stage for a moving tribute honoring Franklin's gospel roots and iconic gospel album, "Amazing Grace." Consulting producer for the tribute is the Emmy Award®-winning music director, composer and producer Rickey Minor. Hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross, the "2018 American Music Awards," the world's largest fan-voted awards show, will broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8:00 p.m. EDT, on ABC.

As BroadwayWorld has sadly reported, legendary playwright Neil Simon has died at 91. He passed away last night at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City due to complications from pneumonia. Netflix has optioned the rights to The New York Times bestseller Shoe Dog, written by Phil Knight. Five-time Academy Award nominated producer Frank Marshall will produce the film alongside Knight. Golden Globe and Emmy Award winners Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Dolemite Is My Name!, Ed Wood, The People vs. Larry Flynt, The People v. O.J. Simpson: AMERICAN CRIME Story) are writing the screenplay.
