The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts announced
the details of its exciting 2011-2012 Season today. The RHCPA follows up its highly successful second season with a lineup guaranteed to provide something for every taste.
American Theater Company proudly announces Season 27, which includes the Chicago Premiere of The Amish Project, written by Jessica Dickey and directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli; K2 written by Patrick Meyers and directed by ATC Ensemble Member Jaime Castañeda and featuring Ensemble Members Usman Ally and Kareem Bandealy; the World Premiere of Tennessee Williams' one act play Escape directed by PJ Paparelli, with choreography by DanceLoop's Paula Frasz; and a co-production of Rent with About Face Theatre, directed by AFT Artistic Director Bonnie Metzger and ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli.
The long overdue London premiere of the Broadway musical The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd, directed by acclaimed West End and RSC director Ian Judge, and designed by three time Olivier Award winner Tim Goodchild, opens for a four week limited season at the Finborough Theatre on Tuesday, 7 June 2011 (Press Night: Thursday, 9 June 2011 at 7.30pm).
Three-time Tony Award-winning scenic designer ROBIN WAGNER and esteemed costume designer LEWIS BROWN are among the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 8 at 6:30pm at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Brown was selected to receive the 2011 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design, and Tony Award-winning scenic designer Robin Wagner will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. Sadly, Mr. Brown passed away in January of 2011. His award will be accepted by his long-time colleague and friend, Albert Wolsky, who was the recipient of the 2010 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award

Influenced by his work as a pantomime, theater director, philosopher, playwright, comic book artist, as well as his spiritual training in Zen Buddhism, shamanism, and the occult, Jodorowsky's films eschew traditional narratives, arcs and character tropes. The six films showcased in 'Blood into Gold: the Cinematic Alchemy of Alejandro Jodorowsky' depict dream worlds, brimming with symbols and steeped in mysticism, floating and colliding with the Surrealist concepts of anarchy and randomness - filtered through the hazy, acid-colored lens of psychedelia. At once jarring, beautiful, baffling, alluring, and absurd, Jodorowsky's work pushes the medium's boundaries - provoking the audience's intellect, senses, and emotions. Abkco Music & Records joins MAD as the co-presenter of this series.
