New "Yes Means Yes" Sexual Consent Law May Lead to Unintended Consequences Says Mark J. WerksmanNew "Yes Means Yes" Sexual Consent Law May Lead to Unintended Consequences Says Mark J. Werksman
by BWW News Desk - Sep 29, 2014

"It's a hard thing for parents to let go when their children are old enough to head off to college, and it's even harder when that child is a young woman. While parents can worry about their children maintaining good grades, making the right friends, and getting a good education, parents of young women have the additional burden of worrying about sexual assault on campus," said Mark J. Werksman of The Law Firm of Mark J. Werksman & Associates. The reality is that sexual assault is no Stranger to higher education, and that number seems to be growing. In 2012, there were more than 3,900 reports of forcible sexual offenses on colleges throughout the country. (1) This number represents a fifty percent increase in just three years, and many experts predict that the actual number is much higher due to many victims not reporting the crime due to variety of factors, including a sense of shame. BWW Recap: MADAM SECRETARY's 'Mysterious' Third Child ArrivesBWW Recap: MADAM SECRETARY's 'Mysterious' Third Child Arrives
by Scott Fullerton - Sep 29, 2014

Welcome back Stranger Friends, and I hope you enjoyed week two of MADAM SECRETARY as much as I did. I think this episode really emphasized the balance the writers are achieving in mixing the politics, and the family life. While the episode and the title, 'Another Benghazi,' may be pulling from the current headlines a bit soon in my opinion, I think going at it from the private security angle was a winner. Myself, and quite a few others that saw the pilot, were questioning the mention of a third child at the Secretary's dinner last week with the King of Swaziland and his many wives. We only met two children that first episode, and I am glad our questions were answered. (more...)

by Scott Fullerton - Oct 9, 2014

Hey Stranger Friends, week four of RED BAND SOCIETY is behind us, and last night's episode had our favorite residents of Ocean Park Hospital stepping outside their rooms and walls, and to be honest, it wasn't a great night for any of them. This week covered Jordi's first adventure in his Chemo treatments, and that teenage rite of passage, Homecoming. I don't know about you, but my homecoming was stressful enough picking out the right corsage and cumber bun for the tuxedo, I can't imagine going back to school after being in the hospital, let alone accompanied by a recently single and highly emotional, Nurse Brittney. BWW Recap: Claire Catches the Plague on MODERN FAMILYBWW Recap: Claire Catches the Plague on MODERN FAMILY
by Matt Smith - Oct 9, 2014

Just a note before I begin: as the world's biggest hypochondriac, I rarely watch episodes of TV shows where any character is sick (in fact, “Chirp” — the Season 2 episode where Claire was last sick — is still the only episode in the MODERN FAMILY canon I have not re-watched). Still, as I recall being said in an early interview with Ty Burrell, Chris Lloyd & Steve Levitan (Phil and the show's creators), seeing a character sick means you're seeing them physically weaker, which, strange as it may sound, is a different side to the character. Thus, providing a whole episode about a family illness shows the depths the creators are going to expose these characters' different sides. And to have it be a MAJOR plot point in this week's episode — rather than in “Chirp” where it was just a different thing (for lack of a better word) for the character to have — shows the creators going the extra step, and with such hilarious results, is something I appreciate, despite the fact that I'm fully aware I'll be tuning in to Claire with the sniffles and characters talking about DayQuil usage and headaches. Ten seasons is a heck of a long run for a show. Most shows fizzle out around Season Five, grasping desperately to come up with new and original material. Season Nine of SUPERNATURAL felt like a jumbled mess at the end, I was truly unsure of where they were heading and if they could continue to grab my attention. Luckily, Monday's premiere was a step above previous years, introducing us to Deanmon and the shenanigans that are sure to follow on this new journey. (more...)
