New England Conservatory has announced their spring 2022 Season. Highlights include NEC Wind Ensemble and Choirs offer a 50th anniversary celebration of the Wind Ensemble by presenting Igor Stravinsky's 'Symphony of Psalms,' and the world premiere commission of Chris Brubeck's first wind ensemble piece, 'Fifty'.

The Winter Park Playhouse has reset the date for their opening night and production run of their blockbuster Southeast Regional Premiere - Trav'lin: A 1930's Harlem Musical Romance. The show will now open January 27 and run through February 19, 2022.

Porirua Little Theatre revives The Sound of Music with phenomenally creative set, staging and lighting.

Sarasota Opera is pleased to announce a preliminary lineup for the 2020 season of a?oeHD at the Opera Housea?? opening on Sunday, October 4th. The presentations will include Bizet's Carmen from the Zürich Opera House, Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty ballet from Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and Puccini's Madama Butterfly from Teatro Real in Madrid. Each presentation will begin at 1:30pm. More titles may be added to the schedule in coming weeks.

With a line-up that features world-class artists in music, dance, comedy, top-touring Broadway hits and more, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts continues its tradition of offering a diverse season with something for everyone.

How do we make a list of the 101 greatest show tunes from the past 100 years? Well, we did the near-impossible task.  Check out our full list here! 

Though SCR's admirable new production of the 1963 Broadway musical SHE LOVES ME, for the most part, still has many charming, beautifully-staged, and well-sung moments, it also somehow feels like it is slightly reigned in, as if there was a purposeful attempt to downscale some of its built-in whimsy and spirited vivaciousness---particularly in the first act where emotional expressions all seem to sit in the same middle areaa?? never tipping over to too angry or too sad or too happy or too, well, anything. Now on stage in Costa Mesa through February 22, 2020, the production---directed by the theater's own artistic director David Ivers---is genuinely entertaining, but still needs a huge shot of joy, romance, and pep to make it feel complete.

A true musical citizen of the world, French born, NYC based vocalist Chloe Perrier has one goal every time she and her French Heart Jazz Band take the stage at clubs throughout Manhattan - to make people happy and transport them away from the chaos and stress of life in the modern world. Drawing from such influences as Josephine Baker, Ella Fitzgerald and Blossom Dearie, the singer uses her velvety voice, spellbinding style and charming accent to transform any room she plays into a realm harkening back to the golden age of jazz.

I had the pleasure of seeing CABARET as put on by Fairfield Center Stage, at the Trevi Lounge in Fairfield, CT.  Fairfield Center Stage has yet again put on a well known production in a brilliantly unique way that audiences would not get to experience anywhere else.  Fairfield Center Stage gets the perfect cast for the roles, and furthermore finds the perfect venue for each production, to provide the ambiance appropriate to the show.  The Trevi Lounge creates a wonderful intimate atmosphere for the cabaret show within the CABARET show.

John Wilson and his orchestra return to the BBC Proms in a concert titled a?oeThe Warner Brothers Storya??, taking audiences on a whirlwind trip through the mammoth catalogue of music written for 1930-1960s Hollywood movies.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG, IATSE Local 800) Film Society's 2019 Screening Series will conclude with the classic The Purple Rose of Cairo(1985). It will be a tribute to its Emmy®-winning and Oscar®-nominated Production Designer Stuart Wurtzel, ADG, at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica on Sunday, August 4 at 5:30 pm. Following the screening, Mr. Wurtzel will explore the making of The Purple Rose of Cairo, moderated by John Iacovelli, ADG, Production Designer and ADG Film Society Co-chair.  The annual 2019 Screening series “Production Design: Designers On Design,” highlights the work of renowned Production Designers and their creative collaborations, and is in association with American Cinematheque.
