When one hears the name, William Shakespeare, one often thinks of tragic lovers, murderous revenge, or tormented royals. If you have not yet become a converted worshipper of The Great Bard, you may even dread the idea of sitting through what you may expect to be hours worth of old, confusing language which is beyond hope of translation, and opt to take a nap instead. Well, whatever expectations you may have from the timeless theatrical master's material, you may leave them at the steps of the Center for the Arts as you enter the fantastical and delightfully entertaining world of A Midsummer Night's Dream. While this story is similar to the classic Romeo and Juliet tale through its introduction of the two star crossed lovers which the show follows, the magical forest on the outskirts of Athens (or, as the Center's production depicts, a world inspired by 1920's New York) is anything but reminiscent of fair Verona or its tragic occurrences when civil blood made civil hands unclean.

Premiere Stages at Kean University will present Martin Casella's 'Black Tom Island' from October 11 to October 21 at the 1882 Carriage House, Liberty Hall Museum. Broadwayworld.com had the pleasure of interviewing Casella about his career and the upcoming show.

Telluride Film Festival, presented by the National Film Preserve, today announced its official program selections for the 45th edition of the Telluride Film Festival. The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) at Utah State University (USU) is presenting Collecting on the Edge, a ground-breaking, two-part exhibition showcasing its exceptional collection that focuses on the history of art west of the Mississippi River since 1920. Uber busy, much in-demand choreographer Janet Roston will have three separate theatre productions running this month of July. Already opened - CABARET at Celebration Theatre and MUTT HOUSE at Kirk Douglas - Janet's latest choreographic piece GATSBY REDUX will be world premiering July 24, 2018 as part of THE MUSIC CENTER'S MOVES AFTER DARK. We had the opportunity to catch Janet in a rare, spare moment between her shows to see how her choreographic mind works.

Kicking off its 2017/18 Season: Survival Instincts, Constellation Theatre Company will present screenings of the 1920 German expressionist horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari from August 9-13 at Source, located at 1835 14th Street NW, Washington, DC. Helen Hayes Award-winning percussionist Tom Teasley will reveal the horror of the Cabinet as he performs his original score live at every screening to complement this classic silent film. The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the third installment in Constellation's ongoing silent film series featuring Tom Teasley, following The Adventures of Prince Achmed in 2015 and Metropolis in 2016. Based on the 1967 Academy Award-winning film, Thoroughly Modern Millie will transport audiences back to the height of the Jazz Age in New York City in an era when women were first entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love. Millie will perform at the Reston Community Center April 20-May 12.
