Oestreich of The New York Times (February 18, 2018)- will launch the fall season by highlighting the organ on the New York concert scene, performing in a three-recital series for solo organ in September 2019. Although months in the planning, these French programs assumed new meaning the night of April 15 to 16, 2019, when the Grand Organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral survived the devastating inferno in Paris.

{Re}HAPPENING 9 - Cunningham Centennial Comes To BMC Campus

Since 2010, Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center (BMCM+AC) has hosted the {Re}HAPPENING inspired by John Cage's 1952 Theatre Piece No. 1, an unscripted performance at Black Mountain College considered by many to be the first Happening. The annual {Re}HAPPENING brings together dozens of contemporary artists whose work responds to and extends the legacy of Black Mountain College visionaries such as John Cage, David Tudor, Merce Cunningham, M.C. Richards and Robert Rauschenberg. The 2019 {Re}HAPPENING celebrates the influence of non-western music on such legendary artists by showcasing contemporary musicians who continue the legacy of experimental music within a global context. As part of the international Merce Cunningham Centennial Celebration, BMCM+AC will juxtapose these contemporary performances and installations alongside projections of historic Cunningham dance footage, including Variations V, a collaboration with John Cage and fellow BMC faculty Stan VanDerBeek.

Love Actually Live, a multimedia-concert celebration of the soundtrack to one of the most beloved holiday movies of all time from the team behind Los Angeles' award-winning For The Record series, is featured this holiday season at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts from Tuesday, December 4, through Monday, December 31, 2018. Co-Produced by the Wallis Annenberg Center for Performing Arts, Shane Scheel and Siobhan O'Neill and inspired by the Universal Pictures/Working Title motion picture written by Richard Curtis, this world-premiere production, presented by special arrangement with Universal Theatrical Group, transforms The Wallis' Bram Goldsmith Theater into a giant, immersive, cinema for the modern day. The production, a one-of-a-kind presentation is performed live by an all-star cast and 15-piece orchestra, includes songs from the hit film, including 'Christmas Is All Around,' 'The Trouble with Love Is,' and 'Both Sides Now.'

Palo Alto Players Presents SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE

Palo Alto Players continues its 2018-19 season with the Peninsula premiere of Lee Hall's stage adaptation of Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman's 1998 Oscar-winning film, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE.  Set against the backdrop of mistaken identity, ruthless scheming, and backstage theatrics, the romantic romp imagines the fictional love affair between William Shakespeare and the woman that inspires him to write his first great masterpiece.  SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is directed by Theatre Bay Area Award-winning director Lee Ann Payne (Palo Alto Players' The Laramie Project), and features a cast of 21 local Bay Area actors.  SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE runs January 18 through February 3 at the Lucie Stern Theater, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.  For information or tickets, visit paplayers.org or call 650.329.0891.

The Adelphi Orchestra, Violinist Randall Goosby To Perform Korngold's Triumphant Concert Opus

The Adelphi Orchestra will feature Randall Mitsuo Goosby, Violin (First Prize winner of the Adelphi Orchestra Competition, First Prize winner of the Sphinx Competition ) in the rarely performed and defiantly triumphant Korngold Concerto for Violin in D major, Op. 35. Randall Goosby's performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto will be the centerpiece in a program entitled "From Vienna with Love" which will also feature Strauss's Overture to Die Fledermaus and concludes with the beautiful Symphony no 2 in D major by Brahms. The concert,  conducted by Richard Owen on Sunday October 27th at 7PM will take place at  NYC's historic Good Shepherd - Faith Presbyterian Church located in the heart of Lincoln Center. Now self-identified Americans, the Isaac family has been living in the United States for nearly 100 years, and memories of Jodi's grandparents' lives in Hungary are distant ones. But Jewish experiences of the Holocaust in Hungary in the 1930s and 1940s loom large in the history of any family of Hungarian Jewish descent.

TCM To Pay Tribute To Musicals In June Programming Special 'Mad About Musicals!'

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. Continuing its tradition of presenting the 'best operas rarely seen', this year's Festival includes a verismo double-bill, a European premiere and a classic Wexford offering involving kidnapping, murder, arson and a posh New York dinner party that doesn't quite go to plan! All this plus three daytime ShortWorks operas, concerts, recitals, theatre and talks. 62 public events over the autumn 17-day period.

Palo Alto Players, the Peninsula's first theatre company, announces its 88th season - featuring four Peninsula premieres and a re-imagined classic. The 2018-19 line-up, beginning September 2018, was unveiled Sunday, January 28 by Artistic Director Patrick Klein at the company's annual Season Announcement Party and includes Disney's TARZAN®, ALL THE WAY, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, FLOWER DRUM SONG, and ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS. All performances are held at the Lucie Stern Theater located at 1305 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Subscriptions are on sale now online at www.paplayers.org or by phone at 650.329.0891. Individual tickets for the September show go on sale in August and for the remaining season beginning in October.
