SAG-AFTRA announced today that former Screen Actors Guild President Richard Masur is the 2018 recipient of the President's Award. The award will be presented Saturday during the SAG-AFTRA National Board plenary. Introduced at last year's SAG-AFTRA convention, the President's Award celebrates a member who has given meritorious service to the union and its membership.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will be coming to Casper, WY and performing at Casper Events Center on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Spectra Venue Management at the Casper Events Center is pleased to announce that Casper's own Patrick W. Stafford, singer, songwriter, and firefighter, will open for the renowned band.

Held at the historic Metropolitan Club (One East 60th Street), the event will bring together awards, live entertainment, silent and live auctions, dinner, and cocktails in celebration of theater and its contribution to American society.

Country Music Hall of Fame member and Mississippi native Charley Pride, was honored with another industry accolade recently, celebrating his legendary career as a pioneering Country musician. Pride was inducted into the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience Hall of Fame class of 2018, on August 25th in Meridian, Mississippi, along with four other recipients; singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett, Photographer William Eggleston, Writer and editor Willie Morris, and Blues musician Howlin' Wolf. Pride also received a 'Walk of Fame' star as part of the ceremony.

Legacy Recordings (a division of Sony Music Entertainment) will release Wouldn't It Be Great, the new studio album from American music icon Loretta Lynn, on Friday, September 28.

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, now in its 40th season, presents Les Ballet Jazz de Montreal: Leonard Cohen's Dance Me, a sweeping homage to Leonard Cohen's songs. Originally commissioned before Leonard Cohen's death and with his blessing, Dance Me 'is a grandly executed hodgepodge of performance art that pushes the entertainment value of contemporary dance closer to the level of a rock concert or big-budget musical' (Ottawa Citizen). Choreographed by Andonis Foniadakis, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, and Ihsan Rustem, the work debuted in Canada to great acclaim last year and the full piece will have its American premiere in this free performance at the Prospect Park Bandshell (Prospect Park West & 9th Street).

The Acting Company presents a one-night-only benefit reading of The Night of the Iguana, Tennessee Williams' feverishly poetic 1961 drama, at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues), on Monday, June 11. Directed by Michael Wilson, the acclaimed Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner, the performance reunites much of the cast and creative team from last season's critically acclaimed production at the American Repertory Theatre. 

Eric Bana (MUNICH and currently starring in THE FORGIVEN) is set to star opposite Connie Britton (NASHVILLE, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) in the first season of Bravo Media's scripted anthology series DIRTY JOHN, based on the articles and breakout true crime podcast of the same name from Los Angeles Times reporter Christopher Goffard. Marking his U.S. television debut, Bana will star as John Meehan, a handsome and romantic charmer who sweeps Debra Newell (Britton) off her feet and pulls her into his web of lies. The series chronicles the true story of how a romance with Meehan spiraled into secrets, denial and manipulation. DIRTY JOHN is produced by Universal Cable Productions (UCP), in association with Los Angeles Times Studios and Atlas Entertainment, and will be executive produced and written by Alexandra Cunningham (CHANCE, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES). Richard Suckle and Charles Roven will serve as executive producers for Atlas Entertainment; Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen and Chris Argentieri will serve as executive producers for Los Angeles Times Studios; Britton and Bana will also serve as executive producers.

The work and life of legendary artist and activist Harry Belafonte will be celebrated during a concert at Aaron Davis Hall on Thursday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. "Turn the World Around: The Music and Legacy of Harry Belafonte" will present audiences with a special evening of songs and stories in honor of and on the icon's 91st birthday.

The story of the now-forgotten but profoundly influential pioneer of the modern birth control rights movement in the United States is the subject of a new feature project in development by Branded Pictures Entertainment (BPE) and Corstoria. Tentatively titled “Privacy,” the film will focus on activist Bill Baird, whose successful 1972 “Eisenstadt v. Baird” Supreme Court case legalized birth control for single people nationwide, and solidified privacy as a constitutionally protected right.

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $25 million in grants as part of the NEA's first major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $25,000 to USITT for the 2019 United States Exhibition of the Prague Quadrennial.
