Opera Saratoga's Artistic and General Director Lawrence Edelson announced that the company's 2018 Summer Festival will feature new productions of four operas at The Spa Little Theatre in Spa State Park, along with a wide variety of free and ticketed concert events from May 26 through July 15 at venues throughout the region.

Many people know the story of Shrek, the lovable but fierce ogre who unwittingly becomes a hero to both fairy tale creatures and a princess, but many do not realize that the film was also made into a hilarious and heartwarming Broadway show in 2008 which was nominated for eight Tony Awards and won one. While Shrek the Musical has long since left Broadway, that has not stopped the show from becoming a favorite for many local theatres. In June The Aracoma Story, Inc. will be bringing this delightful play to the masses at Chief Logan State Park. Children, adults, and all those who believe in fairy tales are invited!

All that and more makes Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID an audience favorite - and it will open the 2018 summer outdoor season for Theatre in the Park (TTIP). Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID, a premiere at TTIP, will have seven performances at the outdoor amphitheater Friday through Sunday, June 8-10 and the following Wednesday through Saturday June 13-16. Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) will host Druid, Ireland's most celebrated theatre company, and their critically acclaimed production of Waiting for Godot. Directed by Tony Award-winner Garry Hynes, Druid's production of Samuel Beckett's absurd, anarchic masterpiece will make its regional premiere at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street, NW) from April 17 through May 20, 2018 before it travels on to Chicago.

The 2018 McCammon Voice Competition judges have chosen the semi-finalists for the eighteenth biennial competition, to be held on March 16, 2018 at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The finals will be held March 17, 2018 at Bass Performance Hall. Band Geeks is a musical comedy conceived by Tommy Newman, who draws experiences from his own high school marching band trials and tribulations. Band Geeks is the Kansas City PREMIERE, and the second play of the current season, directed by Guest Director, Greg Shaw; who took on the piece a few years prior with Pittsburgh High School, bringing it to the hailed Kansas Thespian Conference. The production runs April 19 - April 22, 2018 at The Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center; tickets are on sale now.

Washington National Opera (WNO), led by Artistic Director Francesca Zambello, announces its 2018-2019 season, one that continues its focus on bold productions of classic operas, fascinating contemporary perspectives, and the best in American artistry. The season includes a new WNO production of Verdi's classic romantic drama La traviata, the company premiere of Kevin Puts's and Mark Campbell's Pulitzer Prize-winning Silent Night, Tchaikovsky's epic Eugene Onegin, Gounod's devilishly entertaining Faust, and Puccini's towering masterpiece Tosca. Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop) has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of Lerner & Loewe's MY FAIR LADY. As previously reported, Lauren Ambrose will be playing as Eliza Doolittle and Harry Hadden-Paton will play Henry Higgins, alongside Norbert Leo Butz as Alfred P. Doolittle and Diana Rigg as Mrs. Higgins. Just announced are: Allan Corduner as Colonel Pickering, Jordan Donica as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Linda Mugleston as Mrs. Pearce, and Manu Narayan as Zoltan Karpathy.

St. Ann's Warehouse presents the American Premiere of Schaub hne Berlin's Returning to Reims, an adaptation of French author Didier Eribon's memoir of the same name, directed by Berlin auteur Thomas Ostermeier, February 4-25. This production marks the first collaboration between St. Ann's and the Schaub hne, whose production of Richard III recently garnered acclaim in BAM's Next Wave Festival.

The Citadel Theatre is pleased to announce the creation of THE LAB, an annual, dedicated, season-long commitment to new play development. Through this program, four playwrights will receive support over the course of a season to explore the writing and creation of a new work suitable for the Citadel stages. Each year will have a different theme for exploration in 2017/18 this theme is Community and this year's title is Block Party.
