This fall, artists and audiences from the Washington, D.C. area, the U.S., and around the globe come together at the nation's cultural capital to dance, sing, create, collaborate, listen, learn, talk, share, and celebrate the opening of the REACH, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts's unprecedented new expansion. At a preview event today, May 29, which marks both President Kennedy's 102nd birthday and 100 days until the historic opening, the Kennedy Center unveiled preliminary details of the free 16-day REACH Opening Festival on September 7-22.
CMA Songwriters Series Returns To Nashville on June 5

The Country Music Association's acclaimed CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank will return to the CMA Theater in Nashville Wednesday, June 5 at 7:00 PM with performances by Tracy Lawrence, Heather Morgan, Eric Paslay and Liz Rose. The songwriter's round is a fan favorite that will kick off festivities as tens of thousands of Country Music fans descend upon Nashville for CMA Fest, the world's longest-running Country Music festival, now in its 48th year. BroadwayWorld has learned that The Muny announced today 25 principal cast members for the first season of its second century. Complete company casting will be announced throughout April and May. The 101st season opens on a brand new, state-of-the-art stage with Muny favorite Guys and Dolls followed by the U.S. regional premiere of Kinky Boots. The season continues with 1776, Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Footloose and a newly-reimagined Lerner and Loewe's Paint Your Wagon. Season 101 closes with the highly-anticipated Muny debut of Roald Dahl's Matilda.
Pip Blom Premieres New Single RUBY

Amsterdam's Pip Blom will release their debut album Boat on May 31 via Heavenly/[PIAS] and recently made a splash at their first-ever US appearance at SXSW, with the Chicago Tribune naming them one of the Best Up-and-Coming Bands at SXSW, and the Austin Chronicle calling them one of 9 Must-See Rockers at SXSW. Today the quartet share Boat's exuberant second single 'Ruby.' The single comes via a video directed by Raymond van Mil, who says, 'We started with flamingos. Apparently there are two distinct families standing some 20 meters apart on one exact place in Zeeland/the Netherlands. We went there and were in amazement, it looked so alien in the Dutch landscape. From there the UFO story unfolded and was fun. Was it a dream? A memory? A documentary? Only Pip knows. '

Austin-based band The Black Drumset will release their new album Charged on March 8. The album is available to pre-order now at Bandcamp. This week the band revealed the official video for 'There's A Shark In The Boat,' the first single from Charged. The video premiered at New Noise Magazine and can also be shared at YouTube. About the song The Black Drumset's Brian Willey told New Noise Magazine, 'The song title is inspired by the feeling of suddenly realizing there is real danger in a situation and you've got to focus and take immediate action to avoid disaster. Humans are really good at denying danger until its too late. The lyrics are written in the language of an interpersonal relationship, but its really about a dangerously divided society.'
