Village Theatre produces the World Premiere production of the new musical Stunt Girl, a fast and funny account of the true life of New York's first female investigative journalist, Nellie Bly. Village Theatre is excited to announce the incredible cast of Stunt Girl, on stage in Issaquah March 18-April 26, 2009 and in Everett May 1-24, 2009.

Making her Village Theatre debut as the adventurous Nellie Bly is award-winning actor Sarah Chalfy. Returning to the Pacific Northwest after 15+ years of life on the East coast, this Bellevue-native will breathe new life into a historical figure in this World Premiere production. Chalfy comments, "The opportunity to participate in the birth of a new work is an incredible gift. To delve into a rich, historically significant character like Nellie Bly is a dream. And to do it all here in the Northwest, at the feet of the Cascades...that's just heaven." Chalfy's New York credits include the title role in the world premiere production of ADA. Other regional credits include I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change; Carousel; The Music Man; and A Midsummer Night's Dream. Top awards include: Lotte Lenya, Rosa Ponselle, and Canticum Dominum competitions.

Village Theatre is excited to have Dane Stokinger back on the Mainstage. He will take on the role of Arthur Brisbane, a smart New York City reporter. Stokinger was recently seen in Village Theatre's Village Original workshop production of the new musical The Gypsy King. His Village Theatre Mainstage credits include Little Women, Million Dollar Quartet, and Once Upon A Time in New Jersey. Other credits include the Miss Saigon National Tour and Jesus Christ Superstar European Tour.

John Patrick Lowrie returns to the Village Theatre Mainstage as Joseph Pulitzer. Lowrie has led a varied career as a composer, musician, conductor, author, actor, and director for the last 35 years. His history runs long with Village Theatre; he appeared most recently on the Mainstage in Barefoot in the Park (Victor Velasco), Hello, Dolly! (Horace Vandergelder), and Play It By Heart (Buck). He has also performed throughout the region in Jumpers (ACT), Henceforward... (Portland Repertory), Death of a Salesman and Diary of Anne Frank (Montana Rep/National Tour), and Peter Pan (INTIMAN).

Additional principle cast members include Hugh Hastings (Village Theatre: Little Women, Girl of My Dreams, Annie) as New York businessman Robert Seaman, John X. Deveney (Village Theatre: Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Bye Bye Birdie, The Music Man) as the editor of The New York World John Cockerill, Jessica Skerritt (Village Theatre: Barefoot in the Park, Million Dollar Quartet; ArtsWest: tick, tick...BOOM!) as Pulitzer's secretary Phoebe, and Eric Polani Jensen (Village Theatre: Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Once Upon A Time in New Jersey, EVITA) as reporter Howard Martin.

Village Theatre's production of Stunt Girl is directed by Steve Tomkins; scenic design by Scott Fyfe; lighting by Alex Berry; and costume design by Melanie Burgess.
