The Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyy to Return to Feinstein's at the Nikko, 4/27
Hotel Nikko San Francisco and Michael Feinstein are thrilled to welcome back The Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyy - San Francisco's favorite Russian redhead - to Feinstein's at the Nikko for one-night-only with her hit show, Back in the USSR, A Voyage into the Beatles' Songbook on Sunday, April 27 at 8 p.m. Hailed as the Best Drag Act by the San Francisco Bay Guardian, Katya will take audiences on a musical adventure that examines her personal relationship with the Fab Four, as only Russia's (self proclaimed) greatest mezzo-soprano-understudy-turned-Countess, could envision. It's Abby Road meets The Met with a good dose of cabaret. Katya will be joined by her marvelous band, "The Spectial Players," and the sultry Mz. Sheelagh Murphy. Tickets for The Countess Katya Smirnoff-Skyy range in price from $30-$45 and are available now by calling 866.663.1063 or visiting www.ticketweb.com.
Located within Hotel Nikko (222 Mason Street, San Francisco), Feinstein's at the Nikko presents a wide range of entertainers from stage and screen all within an intimate 140-seat cabaret setting. There is a $20 food and beverage minimum per person inside the showroom which guests can use towards cocktails as well as a variety of small plates crafted exclusively for Feinstein's at the Nikko by Executive Chef Philippe Striffeler, through Restaurant Anzu. Cheese and dessert platters will also be available in the showroom.
With a career spanning ...a very, very long time, Katya claims to have invented Popera, romanced William Shatner, and lived next to John Lennon at the Dakota during her stint in New York City in the 1970s. Once Eastern Europe's greatest Mezzo-Soprano...understudy, the Countess now spends her days beautifying the masses at Macy's Department store, as everyone's favorite Chanel counter lady. She spends her evenings crooning and drinking her away through the finer theaters, bars and bath houses of America.
The creation of San Francisco native, J. Conrad Frank, Katya has appeared in various theatrical runs and nightclubs including The New Conservatory Theater, The Eureka Theater, Trannyshack, and monthly shows at San Francisco's premier piano bar Martuni's.
