San Diego Musical Theatre announces the Pulitzer Prize winning NEXT TO NORMAL, with four more performances through Oct. 12 at the North Park Theatre. Check out a new video!

NEXT TO NORMAL tells the story of a mother, Diana Goodman, who struggles with bipolar disorder and the effect that her illness has on her family. This contemporary musical is an emotional powerhouse that addresses such issues as grieving a loss, ethics in modern psychiatry, and suburban life. With provocative lyrics and a thrilling score, this musical shows how far two parents will go to keep themselves sane and their family's world intact.

NICK DE GRUCCIO (Director) Nick is a three-time recipient of the LA Ovation Award for Direction and has received the 2008 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Joel Hirschhorn Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre as well as the 2009 BackStage Garland Award for Direction for an Outstanding Season of Work. DON LE MASTER (Music Director) As resident MD and Conductor for SDMT, Don received the Outstanding Musical Direction award from the San Diego Theater Critic Circle for SDMT's productions of THE FULL MONTY and THE SOUND OF MUSIC and was nominated for A CHORUS LINE. Most recently, he was seen onstage, conducting the SDMT orchestra in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. Don has worked for many theaters including: Moonlight Amphitheatre, Cygnet, South Bay, Starlight, The Globe and McCoy Rigby. He was nominated for Outstanding Musical Direction for Performance Riverside's 1776 at the 2004 Ovation Awards.

Single tickets for SDMT's production of NEXT TO NORMAL are $26.00, $36.00, $46.00 and $56.00. Children 16 years and under receive a $10 discount. Seniors 65 years and older receive a $5.00 discount. Equity and Actor's Alliance may purchase up to 2 tickets at half price. Groups of 10 or more receive a 25% discount. NEXT TO NORMAL show times are Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at
8:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m..
