In Cygnet Theatre's hilarious production of the off-Broadway hit, Pageant, audience members help crown a different beauty contest winner each night. On July 20th, 7 PM, our Pageant contestants will have to perform for judges who really know their stuff! Miss California USA, Cassandra Kunze and Miss California Teen USA, Bianca Vierra will serve as Celebrity Judges and help evaluate our "girls" on swimsuit, physical fitness, spokes model and beauty crisis counseling. They will also be on hand pre-show to sign autographs and pose for pictures.

Cassandra Kunze is a twenty-year-old California girl born and raised in San Diego. She is a junior at San Diego State University. She grew up dancing ballet at California Ballet School and is a self taught pianist. Vierra is a 19-year-old California girl who grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a freshman at the University of California, Los Angeles.

James Vasquez directs Cygnet's production - a hilarious mash-up of a beauty pageant and a drag musical. The talented and hilarious David McBean returns as Miss Deep South and Phil Johnson reprises his role as the wacky master of ceremonies. This crowd-pleasing romp about beauty contestants who just want to be loved runs from July 10-August 31.

Pageant, called "screamingly funny" by The New York Times, follows the battle of six beauty contestants who face off to claim the Miss Glamouresse tiara. Who will it be? Miss Bible Belt, Miss Industrial Northwest, Miss Deep South, Miss West Coast, Miss Great Plains, or Miss Texas? Judges picked from the audience nightly determine a different winner at every performance. This fun-filled musical is presided over by zany host extraordinaire Frankie Cavalier as contestants, all male, compete in several categories. This wild and funny satire of beauty contests is fun for all ages. You'll never watch Miss America the same way again.

As an added bonus, Cygnet Theatre invites any former or current pageant winner to attend any performance at a discount. Sashes are encouraged. Contact the box office for details.

Pageant will be performed at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre July 10-August 31. Opening Night is July 19, 2014. Show times are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 3pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm and 7pm.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting Cygnet's website at www.cygnettheatre.com or by calling the box office at 619-337-1525.
