BORN YESTERDAY, the classic comedy with political punch, closes Moonlight Stage Productions' 2013 AVO Playhouse Winter Season with performances March 21 - April 7. Tickets are priced from $22-$30 and are on sale now through the VisTix box office by calling (760) 724-2110 or visiting moonlightstage.com.

Moonlight has assembled an outstanding company of award-winning and prominent San Diego artists to bring Garson Kanin's comedy to life. Led by director Jason Heil, The Acting Company includes Danny Campbell (Senator Hedges), Jim Chovick (Ed Devery), David Cochran Heath (Harry Brock), Jessica John (Billie Dawn), Dee Kelley (Mrs. Hedges), Brian Mackey (Paul Verrall), Paul Morgavo (Eddie Brock), Savvy Scopelleti (Helen), and Conor Tibbs (Assistant Manager/Barber).

BORN YESTERDAY is part political satire and part romantic comedy set against the backdrop of Washington DC of the 1940s when the country was coming out of the Great Depression following World War II. The political corruption of the time is skewered by viewing it through the no non-sense eyes of Billie Dawn, a former chorus girl who is now the trophy mistress of the corrupt businessman Harry Brock. Realizing that Billie's lack of education is a liability to his business dealings, he hires the reporter Paul Verrall to educate Billie so she will fit in with Washington society. During this process of learning, Billie learns more than what Harry bargained for. She begins to interfere in Harry's scheme to bribe a congressman allowing him to make even more money.

Originally opening in 1946 on Broadway, the play ran until 1949 for 1,642 performances. Judy Holliday starred in the production which launched her into worldwide fame when she reprised her role in the 1950 film version. The play has been revived twice on Broadway, most recently in 2011. A 1993 remake of the film starred Melanie Griffith in an updated plot.

The creative team for Moonlight's BORN YESTERDAY includes Scenic Designer Marty Burnett, Lighting Designer Paul A. Canaletti, Jr., Sound Designer Peter Hashagen, Costume Designers Roslyn Lehman and Renetta Lloyd, Properties Designer Bonnie Durben, and Stage Manager Sharon Strich.
