Director Shawn Kjos is particularly excited by London Calling, his 13th original production for the Harlequin Dinner Theatre. The musical revue style show is currently playing to a packed house and runs through April 16th. The revue strings together over 50 notable hits by artists stemming from British influence including the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Amy Winehouse, The Spice Girls, Petula Clark, Rod Stewart and The Beatles to name a few.

"This is by far my favorite show to have written and produced for the Harlequin," says Kjos. "I had a blast putting this show together, from choosing from all the amazing music out there, to designing the costumes, to working with such a talented cast of performers. This strong cast allowed me to do some challenging musical selections including Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and "Somebody to Love'.

Recently, the Harlequin received a new, fully upgraded sound system perfect for this type of show, providing a crisp, new sound.

"Addeds to this, the costumes in this show bring a whole new level of professionalism to the Harlequin and to San Antonio theater. Elton John's classic looks are spun into fresh and exciting surprises that do not disappoint. The fashion of the 1980s is brought back for a fun nod, which will make anybody laugh and perhaps cringe just a bit," says Kjos. "A London-district fashion and bold black-and-white costume section make anybody wish for a shopping trip to Camden Market and Bond Street."

Kjos plans on continuing to produce musical revues at the Harlequin. This summer he will open "Those Oldies but Goodies"- an in-concert take on the classic guy and girl groups including Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the Beach Boys, The Chiffons, The Platters, The Crystals, The Tokens, The Supremes and many more. London Calling is running now through April 16th. Call 210-222-9694 for reservations.
