Photo Flash: Get A First Look At Donny Osmond Voiced THE WILL ROGERS FOLLIES at Pioneer Theatre Company
Osmond will serve as the recorded voice of "Florenz Ziegfeld," a role recorded by Gregory Peck in the original Broadway production. Osmond has contributed his time and talent in support of Pioneer Theatre Company.
A Broadway impresario, Ziegfeld made a career out of producing grand theatrical revues and follies performances. The Ziegfeld Follies ran on Broadway from 1907 to 1931. A follies revue would include popular early-20th century entertainers -- like Will Rogers, W.C. Fields, Josephine Baker, Fanny Brice, Eddie Cantor, Gypsy Rose Lee, Bea Arthur and Tallulah Bankhead -- as well as music, dance numbers, and the iconic chorus beauties still recognized today as "Ziegfeld girls."
Utah-born Donny Osmond began his career with his four brothers as a member of The Osmonds in the mid-1960s, performing on television for the first time on an episode of The Andy Williams Show when he was just five years old. He began his solo career in the 1970s, quickly becoming a teen idol with his chart-topping covers and original songs, like "Go Away Little Girl" and "Puppy Love."
Osmond and his sister, Marie, partnered for the self-titled "Donny & Marie" television show in 1976 and have since worked together on talk shows and their current rendition of Donny & Marie in Las Vegas.
In 1992, he starred as Joseph in Andrew Lloyd Weber's hugely successful Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat on Broadway, as well as in the 1999 film version, leaving his mark on the musical theatre scene. Many might also recognize his voice as that of General Li Shang in Disney's beloved animated musical, Mulan, or know him from his 2009 "Dancing with the Stars" win.
