Extraordinary searches for a place in the world in the musical tale of 'Pippn' which originally made its debut on the Broadway stage in 1972 after its early development with the Carnegie-Mellon University Scotch'n'Soda Theatre Group in 1967. Written by drama student at that time, Stephen Schwartz, it now comes to the stage of the iconic Woodstock Playhouse featuring the Woodstock Playhouse Summer Theatre Cast 2016. This regional company is widely known for some of the finest performances in our NY & tri-state region.

Leading us all on a wild journey, the Leading Player and a troupe of players tell the story of the heir to the Frankish throne, the young prince Pippin, who is in search of the secret to true happiness and fulfillment ('Corner of the Sky'.) He seeks it in the glories of the battlefield ('War is a Science' & 'Glory',) the temptations of the flesh ('With You',) and the intrigues of political power after disposing of his father King Charlemagne the Great ('Morning Glow'.) In the end, though, Pippin finds that happiness lies not in extraordinary endeavors, but rather in the un-extraordinary moments that happen every day.

"It's about that personal journey we all take...and, if you allow yourself to go on that journey again, if you let down that guard, you'll find that 'Pippin' is pure gold."
