Oregon Children's Theatre to Present THE TRUE STORY OF THE 3 LITTLE PIGS, 12/5-20

"There has obviously been some kind of mistake!," says Alexander T. Wolf when accused of huffing and puffing two of the three little pig's houses to pieces -- and then gobbling up the residents. Here is the "real" story of the three little pigs... from the wolf's perspective.

This poor wolf has gotten a bad rap. He was merely making a cake for his granny, when he realized needed to borrow an extra cup of sugar from a neighbor. Is it his fault he happened to have an extremely sneezy, breezy cold at the time? Or that his neighbors happened to be scrumptious pigs, who happened to use shabby construction materials? And after the pigs had been ever-so-accidentally killed, well, who can blame him for having a snack? Sheesh!

There's more than one side to a story. Is he really a big, bad wolf? Or simply a misunderstood carnivore? The Honorable Prudence Pig presides over the courtroom chaos and the audience is the jury! With the aid of the high-tech oink-o-meter, audience votes will determine the fate of Alexander T. Wolf.

The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka and Lane Smith was published in 1989 and has sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Similar to Scieszka and Smith's Caldecott Honor book, The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs turns a classic fairy tale upside down and inside out. The musical stage adaptation received its world premiere at Lifeline Theatre in Chicago, Illinois in 2007.

The cast features Joshua Harding as Alexander T. Wolf, Christina DePinto as Lillian Magill, Piper Tuor as The Honorable Prudence, Kallan Dana as Maxwell/Dr. Robert/Martha, and Hannah Lauren Wilson as Julia.

The adaptation and lyrics are by Robert Kauzlaric with music by Paul Gilvary and William Rush. Directed by James Sharinghousen, Music Direction by Eric Nordin, Choreography by Ashlee Waldbauer, Production and Design by Dani Baldwin and Don Crossley.

The Young Professionals Company offers a series of plays presented by our talented Young Professionals -- dedicated acting students aged 13-18 who have been selected to participate in a year-long mentoring program where they have many unique opportunities to advance their craft.

Founded in 1988, Oregon Children's Theatre has served over two million children, teachers, and families. OCT is Oregon's largest non-profit professional children's theater company and a resident company of the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.
