Gallery Theater to Open THE 39 STEPS, 1/18

Pardon, but we thought it fair to warn you that viewing The 39 Steps at Gallery Theater may cause spontaneous laughter, uncontrollable genuflections, and possible rolling in the aisles. Gallery's first show of the 2013 season opens in the arena theater on January 18 and runs through February 9.

In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale! A riotous blend of virtuoso performances and wildly inventive stagecraft, The 39 Steps amounts to an unforgettable evening of pure pleasure!

The cast is a psychiatrists dream; the four cast members play a combined 150 characters! Following the themes from the book (but mostly the movie), the playwrights' massage your memory with allusions from at least four other Hitchcock movies! Put this farcical melodrama on your calendar straight away.
