CoHo presents Faith Healer by Brian Friel April 12 & 19 @ 7:30. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Will! The show is directed by Gemma Whelan and starring Ted Roisum as Frank, Louanne Moldovan as Grace, and Joe Cronin as Teddy.

There is something lyrical, almost musical, in the best Irish writing. In the hands of a good writer, the words can almost sing on the page. In the hands of a good director and cast, the words take on a life of their own, creating melodies, motifs and counterpoint unique to the performers and the performance. The richness of life is revealed, from horrible cruelty through profound love to senseless apathy. CoHo Productions is pleased to offer a guided tour through the lively Irish lexicon with its stage reading of Faith Healer by the Irish national treasure, Brian Friel. Perhaps best known for Dancing at Lughnasa, Friel creates lasting aural imagery with three characters who speak of, but not to, each other in a fascinating theatrical construction of non-interactive monologues from three close associates: a traveling faith healer; his wife; and his manager.

Actors Ted Roisum, Louanne Moldovan and Joe Cronin dig into the words, mining deeper meaning from them than the simple expression of the phonemes might reveal. Guided by director Gemma Whelan, the characters delve into themselves as much as each other, revealing truths they may not even realize have been spoken.

"A touching, marvelously entertaining play which tells a gripping tale with absolute panache" wrote The London Daily Telegraph. Conor McPherson's play This Lime Tree Bower brought McPherson to the attention of critics and audiences. This Lime Tree Bower tells the overlapping tales of three young men from a Dublin seaside town, recollecting one fateful night that included an embarrassing episode at a college lecture, a rape, and a robbery done for retribution that ties it all together. Gorgeous language and three compelling characters make this a must-see of the season.
