SEVEN GUITARS in August at August Wilson's Childhood Home!

August in August means Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater Company will present August Wilson's Seven Guitars at the playwright's boyhood home in Pittsburgh's historic Hill District neighborhood each weekend in the month.

This production marks the second time Seven Guitars has been presented by PPTCO; the first time was in 2009. Set in 1948 (and directed again by Mark Clayton Southers), Seven Guitars opens with the funeral of Floyd Barton, and then reveals in powerful language and explosive action the events that led to Floyd's death. Seven Guitars is the Pulitzer Prize-winner's brilliantly constructed examination of the African-American male's fight for his own humanity in the face of personal and societal ills.

The cast includes Ty Barrow, Jonathan Berry, Teri Bridgett, Kevin Brown, Jamilah Chanie, Wali Jamal and Leslie Ezra Smith.

Seven Guitars will be presented every weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) in August 2016 (5-7, 12-14, 19-21 and 26-28) beginning at 8 p.m. Performances are in the backyard of the historic childhood home of August Wilson - 1727 Bedford Avenue. Due to the outdoor presentation, there will be no matinees for this production.

Tickets are $35. Seniors 65+ and Hill District residents pay $25 for the first two weekends only. Students with ID pay $25 at the door, first three weekends only. Tickets are available at www.pghplaywrights.com.
