Christine Ebersole, Brian Stokes Mitchell Sing For Hillman Cancer Center Gala

On October 19th several of Broadway's greatest stars will be sharing their talents in the name of supporting Cancer research and patient care at a special benefit produced by EMMY® Award-Winning RWS and Associates Entertainment, Inc. (Ryan Stana, Executive Producer). Tony Award Winners Christine Ebersole and Brian Stokes Mitchell will be performing songs from Broadway hits they starred in such as 42nd Street, Ragtime, and Man of La Mancha at the 2011 Hillman Cancer Center Gala. Veteran Broadway actress and Tony Award winner Michele Pawk will lead the evening as the Mistess of Ceremonies.

This annual event benefits cancer research and patient care at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UPCI) and UPMC Cancer Centers. This special event brings friends and supporters of the Hillman Cancer Center together for a night of hope and inspiration as they celebrate achievements in field and envision a future without cancer.

Christine Ebersole is a two time Tony Award winning actress who has enchanted audiences throughout her career, from Broadway, film, and television to the concert stage and recordings. With Tony awards for best leading actress in a musical for both 42nd Street and for her tour-de-force performance in Grey Gardens, she has also won rave reviews for Camelot, Oklahoma, Dinner at Eight, and Blithe Spirit. Her silver screen credits include Amadeus, Tootsie, Richie Rich and Confessions of a Shopaholic.

Dubbed "The Last Leading Man" by the New York Times, Brian Stokes Mitchell's musical artistry keeps him in demand by some of the country's finest conductors and orchestras. His seasoned Broadway career includes a Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critic Circle award winning performance in Kiss Me Kate as well as starring roles in Man of La Mancha, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Ragtime, and King Hedley II. Film and TV appearances include Frasier, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Trapper John, MD, and Crossing Jordan. His unforgettable rendition of "The Impossible Dream" at the memorial service of Senator Ted Kennedy consoled a nation.

Pittsburgh native Michele Pawk made her mark on Broadway starring in the hit musicals Crazy For You, Merrily We Roll Along, Chicago, Cabaret and Seussical The Musical. She earned critical raves for her performance in Hollywood Arms and won a Tony Award for One More Time. Most recently she starred in the smash Broadway hits, Hairspray and Mamma Mia.

Scientists and physicians at UPCI and UPMC Cancer Centers have gained national recognition through their outstanding research and clinical efforts. As one of only thirty-nine comprehensive cancer centers in the country, UPCI offers an outstanding breadth and depth of programs and services in scientific research, psychosocial care, prevention, detection, treatment, outreach and education.
