Theater Works 30th Season continues with the Master Works production Almost Maine opening Friday, October 30. Almost Maine tells eight stories of love that take place in the remote, northern town of Almost. Where the winters are cold, the days are short and the snow is deep, magical moments are shared between two people at exactly the same time as the northern lights appear. Love is lost, found and confounded... and life for the people of Almost will never be the same. Written by John Cariani. this play, called "A whimsical approach to the joys and perils of romance..." - The New York Times - has become one of the most popular offerings of the American Theater.

Four actors portray 19 characters. Veteran Valley actors Amanda Melby, Amy Garland, BJ Garrett and Scott Hyder each (literally) wear the hats of multiple characters during this frosty production. Amanda Melby has been a professional actress for 25 years, and is making her Theater Works debut in Almost Maine. She is the head coach/owner of Verve Studios, teaches at ASU, has studied in Howard Fine's Master Class in LA, is an accomplished cellist and holds a BA in theatre and English from Concordia College in Minnesota. Amy Garland is also making her Theater Works debut. Amy's previous roles include Heidi (The Heidi Chronicles); Claire (Rumors); Julia (Two Gentlemen of Verona); and Nurse (Romeo and Juliet). BJ Garrett is returning to Theater Works after portraying Peter in 2009's Premiere!. Other prior theater credits include Wit (Posner), The Dining Room (Ensemble), and Mr. Burns, a post-electric play (Matt/Mr. Burns). Almost Maine will be the fourth production at Theater Works for Scott Hyder. He previously appeared in Follies (Buddy), Music Man (Mayor Shinn), and National Pastime (Vinny; Jackson).

Richard Powers Hardt is directing Almost Maine. Richard has been directing, designing and writing for valley theatres for almost 35 years. His last two shows for Theater Works, "All Through the Night" and "Dark of the Moon" were both nominated for ariZoni Awards for Best Show, and he received an ariZoni for his Scenic Design for "Dark of the Moon".

Almost Maine will be on stage at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts October 30 - November 15, 2015. Almost Maine, will be followed by the holiday season production of Quiltmaker's Gift. Based on the beloved book, a lovely story of a greedy King and a generous Quiltmaker who teaches him that giving is the gift on stage December 4 - 20, 2015.
