Theater Works Executive Director, Dan Schay, and Artistic Director, Robyn Allen, have announced a new season of five sensational productions that include a selection of hit musicals, comedies and dramatic plays, as well as the return of a holiday favorite. Plus, an all NEW logo (see above) and a fantastic new website are "in the works" at Theater Works.

"What a year we have ahead at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts. Get ready to laugh, cry, sing, dance and experience it all LIVE," says Schay. "Theater Works is continuing its tradition of offering motivating and engaging productions that are fun and familiar but not overdone." Schay continues, "There have been a few changes for the new season; we have recognized our guest's wishes and are offering an all new five-series subscription with A Christmas Carol being an easily added option."

"To open the season,we are combining our MasterWorks and YouthWorks troupes to produce Big, The Musical," remarks Allen. "Big is the unforgettable 1987 motion picture fantasy turned musical that was a 'big' hit on Broadway and in national tours," continues Allen. "We are excited about the features this show offers: a great story, beautiful musical numbers and - the BIG piano."

Theater Works is rediscovering Ragtime, an American classic, winner of multiple Tony Awards, including Best Original Score; this musical was hailed by Time Magazine as "A triumph for the stage." Jazz, automobiles, new ideas and new industries - the Ragtime era was when America came of age. This musical tells the story of Americans from every walk of life, in a musical that has drama, comedy, sensitivity and sweep.

Season 2013-2014 at Peoria Center for the Performing Arts continues with the holiday production of A Christmas Carol. Check your Bah Humbugs at the door! This Theater Works' holiday tradition is an original adaptation of Charles Dickens' moving story of
Ebenezer Scrooge's emotional transformation from an old, miserable miser into a caring and generous individual . Presented to full houses and standing ovations, the production combines lively renditions of favorite carols with beloved, poetic language to make a holiday treat for the whole family.

Opening January 17, 2014 is an Arizona première; the uproarious play Mama Won't Fly from the comic team who created The Dixie Swim Club, one of Theater Works' biggest hits. "This play is a ferociously funny, family friendly comedy that will have you laughing until your sides burst," says Allen.

Next comes a tuneful tribute to one of America's greatest composers opening March 1, 2014! Perfectly Frank is a wonderful bouquet of the greatest songs from Frank Loesser's Broadway successes, Hollywood productions and hit-parade numbers. Hear such favorites as Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition, Baby It's Cold Outside, hits from Where's Charlie, Guys and Dolls and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. "When the curtain falls, audiences will leave delighted by their time spent with the genius of Frank Loesser," comments Schay.

Closing out the 2013-2014 Season is a haunting classic based on the folk ballad "Barbara Allen." Set in the beautiful but mysterious Great Smoky Mountains, it recounts the story of a strange "witch boy" who falls in love with beautiful Barbara Allen at first sight, and turns human to woo her. Their love is doomed by fear and ignorance. Brilliant performance, a haunting score, and the magical craft of puppetry combine to make Dark of the Moon a classic tale, powerfully told.
