The 2023 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were given last night, May 7, to recipients in 15 categories, with four honorary awards also bestowed. BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos from the red carpet here!

The producers of Harmony have announced the actors who will portray The Harmonists, the legendary real-life musical group in Harmony, the new musical by Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Harmony will transfer to Broadway at the Barrymore Theatre later this year! Direct from its sold-out, award-winning downtown run, Harmony, a New York Times Critic's Pick, begins performances on Broadway October 18th.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, JewishGen, LOX, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation and the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research will present New York’s first-ever Mishpachah Festival: A Celebration of Genealogy, Heritage, & Immigration, on Sunday, May 21, 2023.

On March 4th, at 8:00pm, the non-profit Friends of Chappaqua Performing Arts Center (ChappPAC) will present a concert and conversation with members of the cast of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to UJA's emergency relief efforts in Ukraine.

National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) has received Regrowth and Capacity grants from the New York State Council on the Arts. These grants will support the organization's cultural programming and artistic associates as we continue our ongoing recovery from pandemic challenges.

At long last, women playwrights take center stage at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene. The Yiddish Women Playwrights Series, scheduled to proceed on June 21, 2022 with a FREE streamed production of Kadya Molodowsky's Ale Fentster Tsu der Zun (All Windows Face the Sun), highlights revolutionary, avant garde, feminist works from writers whose contributions to the Yiddish theatre have long been overlooked, ignored, and locked away.

Last night, Off-Broadway saw the closing night of the new musical Harmony at the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene. Joining the cast on stage at the curtain call and teasing a potential transfer were the creators, Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman, along with the director/choreographer Warren Carlyle.

Harmony: A New Musical, starring musical theatre icons Chip Zien (Into the Woods, Caroline, Or Change) and Sierra Boggess (The Little Mermaid, The Phantom of the Opera), has announced the recording of their original cast album, to be produced by Barry Manilow and co-produced by Lawrence Manchester. Jill Dell'Abate is the Production Manager.

Barry Manilow has released a statement, sharing that due to testing positive for COVID-19, he will be unable to attend the opening night performance of his musical HARMONY.
