GIFTS OF LOVE: THE WORDS AND MUSIC OF STEPHEN SCHWARTZ, a benefit concert featuring premiere talent from the musical theatre world, is to take place on February 10. Tickets are $50 a person (food included), and may be purchased through www.brownpapertickets.com. Doors open at noon for a lunch/brunch buffet, and the show begins at one. All proceeds benefit Musical Theatre Programs at Culver City/Valley Glen campuses. The event will be hosted by True Blood's Carolyn Hennesy. Kodo Returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall Tonight

Kodo, Japan's preeminent performing arts ensemble, returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall tonight, February 5 at 8 PM as part of the group's One Earth Tour 2013: Legend, the first tour under the guidance of new Artistic Director, kabuki icon Tamasaburo Bando. The program will feature several re-envisioned works and new pieces inspired by Bando's distinct aesthetic and deep experience, as well as the group's hallmark taiko - the nearly 900-pound drum - a show-stopping instrument that demands both strength and tenderness.

Ann Hampton Callaway, one of the leading champions of the Great American Songbook, brings the Los Angeles debut of The Streisand Songbook to the Walt Disney Concert Hall stage, Sunday, February 10, at 7:30 pm. The special evening features Callaway singing timeless classics from five decades of Barbra Streisand's multi-faceted career, including "People," "Don't Rain on My Parade," "Evergreen," and "Cry Me a River." The lyrics of the acclaimed team of Alan and Marilyn Bergman will also be featured during the concert, and Alan Bergman will make a special cameo appearance to share stories about the years of collaboration he and his wife shared with Ms. Streisand, as well as to perform some cherished songs. Callaway is also joined by an all-star trio: Christian Jacob on piano, Trey Henry on bass, and MB Gordy on drums.

According to the duo's website, Zooey Deschanel's She & Him will release their third studio album of original material with Merge Records this spring. Called 'Volume 3', the album will be available in stores and online May 7 (North America) and May 13 (UK / Europe). She & Him's North American Summer 2013 tour will kick off June 13 in Nashville, TN, at the Ryman Auditorium. This tour will see the duo - backed by a full band - playing legendary venues including Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl and New York's Central Park Summerstage.

On February 6, medici.tv will present a live webcast of the historic world premiere production of The Perfect American, Philip Glass's new opera about Walt Disney. At 75, Glass is one of the towering figures of 20th-century music, and perhaps the most successful composer alive today. The world premiere of his new opera will take place at Madrid's Teatro Real, which commissioned the piece.

Glen Cove, N.Y. resident Frederick Stroppel, author of nine collections of full-length plays and one-acts, many of which have been performed in New York and internationally, has chosen Long Island's Bare Bones Theater Company for the world premiere of Dead of Night, an evening of two one-act plays of macabre humor and suspense. There will be eight performances, beginning tonight, February 1, and continuing through February 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15 and 16, 2013, at 57 Main Street in Northport, NY.

Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda makes his Walt Disney Concert Hall debut, leading the LA Phil in three performances, tonight through Saturday, January 31 through February 2, at 8 pm. The all-Rachmaninoff evenings feature the composer's rarely heard Symphony No. 3 and 24-year-old French pianist Lise de la Salle playing his popular Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The Thursday and Saturday programs also include The Isle of the Dead.

Disney's Mysterious 1952 Officially Titled TOMORROWLAND

The Walt Disney Studios has announced that its hush-hush Brad Bird project, previously known as 1952, will be titled TOMORROLAND. The studio has also announced that film is set for a domestic release on December 19, 2014.

Celebrating one of the most exciting musical partnerships in classical music, Grammy-winners Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic release their recording of Mahler's Symphony No. 9, available in the U.S. on Deutsche Grammophon on February 19th. The two have previously released recordings available exlusively in the digital format, making this new release the first to be offered as both a physical and digital recording for consumers. The album was recorded live at Los Angeles‘ Walt Disney Concert Hall during the 2012 Mahler project.
