DISH and The Walt Disney Company Continue Talks, Extend Contract

Good news for TV watchers, DISH and The Walt Disney Company have reached a short-term extension with respect to the continued carriage of ESPN; Disney Channel; ABC owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham and Fresno; ABC Family and other networks from The Walt Disney Company. Details regarding the extension were not announced.

Bernard Labadie to Conduct NY Phil in Mozart's Requiem, Works by J.S. Bach and Handel, 11/7-9

Bernard Labadie will return to the New York Philharmonic to conduct Mozart's Requiem; J.S. Bach's Cantata No. 51, Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!; and Handel's 'Let the Bright Seraphim' from Samson. The program's soloists will include soprano Miah Persson, mezzo- soprano Stephanie Blythe, tenor Frédéric Antoun in his Philharmonic debut, bass Andrew Foster- Williams, Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Philip Smith, and the New York Choral Artists directed by Joseph Flummerfelt. The concerts will take place Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.; and Saturday, November 9 at 8:00 p.m.

THE JUNGLE BOOK is Huntington Theatre Company's Highest Grossing Show Ever

On Saturday, the Huntington Theatre Company's production of The Jungle Book became the most successful production in the company's 31-year history, grossing $1,584,263 to date with three full weeks remaining in its run. It surpasses the Huntington's 2003 production of Butley starring Tony Award-winner Nathan Lane, the previous record-holder at $1,576,699. The company of The Jungle Book celebrated the milestone Sunday evening withJungle Book Production Sponsors at a cocktail party hosted by Huntington Board of Trustees Clerk Linda Waintrup and her husband Daniel.

To coincide with the 75th anniversary of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's classic motion picture The Wizard of Oz, the Farnsworth Art Museum will open the exhibition The Wonderful World of Oz-Selections from the Willard Carroll/Tom Wilhite Collection on Saturday, October 12, 2013. The show, drawn from the world's most comprehensive collection of Oz materials, which is based in Maine, will run through March of 2014 in the museum's Crosman Gallery. The opening will be celebrated at a members' preview and reception, on Friday, October 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. throughout the museum's galleries.

The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) introduces new performing opportunities across all musical theater programs this school year. These include performances each trimester for all of the musical theater classes. A Holiday Tribute will be presented in December, School Rocks! in March and Spring Concert in May. FSPA also proudly presents an all-student production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on February 8, with many featured and ensemble roles in the smash-hit, family-friendly musical. Participation in performances is optional, but encouraged as a fun way to apply skills learned in the classroom, grow creatively and gain increased confidence onstage.
