Fox Valley Repertory, the premier professional theater in the Fox Valley area, invites all arts lovers, theater patrons, Fox Valley Rep friends and family to join them for a family-friendly celebration at Two Brothers Roundhouse in support of the nonprofit theater company's year-round theater productions, educational programming, and providing student scholarships for those in-need. Now in its fourth year, Fox Valley Rep will be 'Rockin' at The Roundhouse' on October 20, 2013 at 4-7:30pm.

Conductor James Conlon returns to the Metropolitan Opera to lead a revival of Benjamin Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream in commemoration of the 2013 Britten centenary, with six performances beginning Friday, October 11, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. The 1996 production by Tim Albery returns to the Met after ten years, and features a cast that includes Kathleen Kim as Tytania, Erin Wall as Helena, Elizabeth DeShong as Hermia, Iestyn Davis as Oberon, Joseph Kaiser as Lysander, Michael Todd Simpson as Demetrius, Matthew Rose as Bottom, and Riley Costello as Puck.

Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC) - led by Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson and acclaimed for its pure, agile, bel canto sound that has made it one of the most in-demand children's choirs in the county - announces its 2013-14 season, entitled "Legacies Unleashed," which spotlights the music of Benjamin Britten and the English choral tradition. The chorus also presents two world premieres and a broad range of other musical genres demanding remarkable vocal versatility and technical skill from LACC's accomplished young choristers, who range in age from 6 to 18.
NY Philharmonic's 'Insights Series' Now Free; 2013-14 Lineup Announced

Beginning with the 2013-14 season, the New York Philharmonic's Insights Series - in which artists and experts will explore some of the season's themes and concerts - will now be free, and take place at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center. This season's events will include discussions with Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow during his farewell season (October 23); composer-conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen and violinist Leila Josefowicz (October 28), who will discuss Mr. Salonen's Violin Concerto, written for Ms. Josefowicz (which they will perform with the Philharmonic in its New York Concert Premiere, October 30-November 5); Music Director Alan Gilbert and Executive Director Matthew VanBesien on the state of the Philharmonic (March 3, 2014); The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Yefim Bronfman (May 20, 2014), who will talk about Beethoven's piano concertos (which he will perform during The Beethoven Piano Concertos: A Philharmonic Festival, June 11-28, 2014); and discussions relating to the NY PHIL BIENNIAL, the details of which will be announced at a later date.

Four theater artists will be honored by the Henry Hewes Design Awards Committee during the presentation of its 2013 Awards in a luncheon ceremony scheduled for October 21. Mimi Lien(Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812), Ann Roth (The Nance), Jane Cox (The Flick) andPeter Nigrini (Here Lies Love) will be honored with 2013 Henry Hewes Design Awards. Each of the four is receiving his or her first Henry Hewes Design Award. For the 2013 honors, 84 theater artists were nominated for outstanding artistry in 55 productions presented during the 2012-2013 New York theater season. For the first time in its six-year history, Youth Orchestra LA (YOLA) students will perform alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Gustavo Dudamel on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Patrons from throughout the county will also be able to enjoy the concert in a very special LA Phil simulcast on a giant screen in Grand Park.

Signaling the start of the social season, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will hold its annual Gala Concert tonight, September 7 at 8:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. This year's Gala will be led by BSO Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly. The concert features the band Pink Martini with vocalist Storm Large, who will collaborate with the BSO for an intoxicating mix of cabaret, samba, jazz and Hollywood musicals. National Public Radio's news correspondent Ari Shapiro, a frequent guest vocalist with Pink Martini, will perform.

Based on the beloved film starring Michael Caine and Robert Duvall, Secondhand Lions springs to musical life in Seattle with a superbly talented cast of Broadway stars and Seattle musical theater actors. Lead by Tony Award nominees Gregg Edelman and Mark Jacoby, this adventure story also features Jason Danieley, Jenny Powers, Kevin Earley, Jared Michael Brown, Kendra Kassebaum, Sophia Anne Caruso, and Justin Huertas. El Capitan Theatre to Screen Disney's THE JUNGLE BOOK, 9/12

For ONE NIGHT ONLY on Thursday, September 12, 2013, Hollywood's legendary El Capitan Theatre celebrates "Throwback Thursday" and will be showing "The Jungle Book," the 19th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. Originally released on October 18, 1967, "The Jungle Book" is the story about the feral child Mowgli from the book of the same name by Rudyard Kipling. Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman it was the last animated feature to be produced by Walt Disney, who died during its production.
