BWW Reviews: Phenomenal Cast in Lower Ossington Theatre's AVENUE Q
by Brittany Goldfield Rodrigues - Jul 3, 2013

AVENUE Q is quite honestly Sesame Street for adults. The Tony Award winning show is without a doubt worthy of it's award winning satus with it's quirky puppet characters, hysterically explicit music, and heart warming plot line. The Lower Ossington Theatre's production of the show encapsulates the mood and feel of the show astoundingly well, and with phenomenal casting.

BWW Reviews: AVENUE Q Is Sweet, Salty, and Very, Very Funny
by Patrick Brassell - Jun 16, 2013

I attended Avenue Q at a sold-out Saturday night performance on Pride weekend in Portland, and the house was filled with people who clearly knew the show and were ready to have fun. The couple seated next to me, however, came with a group of friends and seemed confused about what they were going to see. 'It's Sesame Street for twentysomethings,' I explained. 'It's a great comedy.' And so it is. But what hit me this time (my third) was how sweet and likable the show is. At the end of Act One, when the various plots hit their snags and the characters are heartbroken, I heard an audible 'Awwww' throughout the house. This is the triumph of Triangle Productions' 2013 take on Avenue Q: They've found the heart underneath the goofiness. And this is by far the best rendition of the show I've seen.

Presented in collaboration with the puppet masters at The Zoot Theatre Company, it's laugh-out-loud musical mayhem that's not for the little ones or the faint of heart. A spot-on (and unauthorized) send up of Sesame Street complete with puppets, songs and short videos, Avenue Q aims its racy brand of humor to today's 20-, 30- and 40-somethings.Director/choreographer Joe Deer sums up the show, 'Avenue Q is the answer to a delightfully simple question: What happens to the kids who were raised on Sesame Street when they grow up? Do those attitudes work in the 'real world'?'

BWW Reviews: AVENUE Q at Austin Theatre Project is Raunchy & Riotous

Austin Theater Project's hysterical production of Avenue Q-the hit Broadway musical which beat out Wicked to win the Tony Awards triple crown of Best Book, Best Score, and Best Musical-is sure to be a must see event of the Austin summer season. Though while the show involves cute Jim Henson-esque puppets, leave the kids at home. We're not in Sesame Street anymore.
