Adventure Theatre MTC Cancels Shows and Classes Due to COVID-19

Adventure Theatre MTC, following Governor Hogan's announcements, will shut down all classes and all performances beginning Monday, March 16, 2020. Classes will resume Sunday, March 29, 2020 in line with current public schools.

Adventure Theatre MTC exercising the utmost caution for its friends who are elderly and immunocompromised, has chosen to eliminate the public gathering of its biggest fundraiser, the 2020 Spring Gala Step Out In Style honoring Donald Thoms and featuring performances by Broadway, television, and film's Tracie Thoms. Instead, Adventure Theatre MTC has plans to take its fundraiser virtual. More information about that to follow.

MasterVoices, led by Artistic Director Ted Sperling, continues its 2019-20 season on January 10 and 11 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College of Criminal Justice with the New York premiere of Iron & Coal, Jeremy Schonfeld's multimedia rock-opera about his family's experience in the Holocaust and its aftermath. Along with MasterVoices, joining Schonfeld onstage will be distinguished theater artist Rinde Eckert, tenor Daniel Rowan, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and the New York-based contemporary music ensemble, Contemporaneous.

Baltimore Center Stage has announced a special event featuring a staged reading of Thornton Wilder's The Long Christmas Dinner, which will take place on Monday, December 16, 2019.  This one-night-only presentation of this revered classic features notable personalities with Baltimore ties in the classic roles of the Bayard Family during their 100-year-long Christmas dinner. The reading will serve as a launch-point for a post-performance conversation on the importance of family traditions, moderated by Artistic Director Stephanie Ybarra.

Charity Concert For Freedom For Immigrants, produced by Ben Caron and David Krich on November 8, 2019 at 9PM, is a concert uniting the Broadway, film/ television and music communities, featuring songs of resistance, compassion and hope to benefit a?oeFreedom for Immigrantsa?? at Sayers Club, Hollywood. The uplifting event is a one-night-only charity benefit for non-profit Freedom for Immigrants, in advocacy for a more compassionate and humane immigration policy. The event will feature songs performed by musicians and actors from the Broadway, television and film communities in solidarity with immigrants.

The Theater Project Presents Reading Of BLACK LIVES/BLUE LIVES

New York's leading LGBTQ film festival, NewFest, has announced the full lineup of their 31st annual celebration of the year's best LGBTQ films from around the world. As announced earlier this week, the festival will kick off the festival's 31st edition with the New York premiere of Mike Doyle's Manhattan-set ensemble rom-com SELL BY, featuring an eclectic cast including Scott Evans (Netflix's “Grace and Frankie”), Kate Walsh (ABC's “Grey's Anatomy”), Academy Award-nominee and Emmy Award-winner Patricia Clarkson, Michelle Buteau (Netflix's “Tales of the City”) and Augustus Prew (HIGH-RISE), and will close the festival with the New York premiere of Rodrigo Bellott's award-winning film TU ME MANQUES, which was recently announced as Bolivia's submission for Best International Feature Film selection for the 2019 Academy Awards.

Off-Center, the collaborate effort known as WORKING did not play an Off-Broadway run before hitting Times Square. Instead, Chicago's Goodman Theatre production transferred to the 46th Street Theatre in 1978, where it garnered numerous Tony nominations, including best musical.
