Syracuse University's Department of Drama (SU Drama) in the College of Visual and Performing Arts is pleased to announce its 2014-15 season. Offerings will include the passionate and powerful musical Parade with music by Jason Robert Brown, the comic Stepping Out about the friendships and joy found in an adult tap class, the 60s era hit musical Hairspray (co-produced with Syracuse Stage), two couples grappling with relationships in the witty comedy Lips Together, Teeth Apart, William Shakespeare's profound comedy Measure for Measure, and the laugh-out-loud Tony Award-winning musical Avenue Q. New York Stage and Film and Vassar College, this summer celebrating the 30th year of their Powerhouse Theater collaboration, have announced the four workshops-two musicals, two plays-that will be a part of the upcoming 30th Powerhouse Theater Season, running from June 20 to July 27 at Vassar College (Poughkeepsie, New York). The Phantom of the Opera, now in its 26th year on Broadway, will welcome former 'LITTLE MERMAID' co-stars Norm Lewis and Sierra Boggess to the cast on Monday, May 12, at the Majestic Theater. BroadwayWorld has learned that while Lewis will perform in eight shows a week, Boggess will assume the usual 'Christine' schedule of six per week. Boggess will appear in all performances Tuesdays through Saturdays. Alternate Sara Jean Fordwill perform the role on Saturdays and Mondays.

Theatre Aspen announced the launch of a new play development series today, with the early workshopping of Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater musical Alice By Heart, based on the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Sheik and Sater are best known for their 2007 rock musical Spring Awakening which won eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.

The new Broadway play Mothers and Sons from 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally and starring Tony Award and six-time Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly is proud to announce that portions of The AIDS Memorial Quilt are now on display in the lower lobby of the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), where the critically-acclaimed play currently resides. The Quilt, fittingly, is prominently referenced during the course of the 90-minute play, making its residency inside the theater especially poignant. The Arvada Center has announced its six-play season, an impressive line-up of plays and musicals that span a range of human experiences including self-discovery, romance, humor, imagination and intrigue. The three musical, three play package is filled with popular titles and includes two regional premieres and an ongoing collaboration with Creede Repertory Theatre. Subscription packages range in price from $99 to $440 and are now on sale to Arvada Center subscribers and the general public. Single tickets for the 2014-2015 theater season go on sale Monday, August 4. Subscribing donors giving at the $150 level or above by June 2 will receive a free guest voucher for each subscription. These vouchers can be used for theater performances in the 2014-15 season. Co-Hosts Judith Light and Christopher Sieber announced the nominations for the 2014 Drama League Awards, including Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award. The 2014 Drama League Nomination announcement begins the month of celebrations leading up to the 80th Annual Drama League Awards, which will be held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) on Friday, May 16, 2014 at noon hosted by Broadway veteran Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
