Terrence McNally, Best Play for Mothers and Sons
Oh yes, I was watching I set the alarm for 7, made a few strong cups of coffee and settled down I don't take these things calmly. Especially since this was a new American play we sometimes get overlooked and we have to work extra hard to make our voices heard. And, the producers took a chance but we found our finding our audience. Of course I want to keep Broadway friendly with musicals, but new plays bring new ideas new thoughts are exchanged. I'm also celebrating Tyne's monumental performance. I wrote the role for her and hoped she would accept it and she did. Her performance is up there in the top with MASTER CLASS. It just sets a standard. I don't want to just focus on nominees, our three men were phenomenal as well. But, of course they get recognition from the audience. I have people arriving in an hour, I promised them bagels - we are working on a show, a musical which I really can't talk about yet. So, I'm working today but I'm very happy. I'd like to take to the day off but that wouldn't be fair to them of course! I'll celebrate with cast after the show.
