UP Comedy Club's summer roster of sketch shows and special events is making UP one of the hottest places for native Chicagoans and visitors alike. UP Comedy Club offers fun for all ages with 'Improv Extravanganza Explosion!' -- a kid-friendly and interactive improvisational experience (through Aug. 8). For the more grown-up crowd, choices include 'Summer in The Second City,' featuring a mix of The Second City's best sketch material from their archives and some hysterical Chicago-style improvisation (through Sept. 1); the ever-popular 'Second City Improv All-Stars' (ongoing);and The Smartest Man in the World Proopcast' featuring Greg Proops of 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' coming to UP for one night only (Sept. 4).

It is definitely summertime in the city and the perfect time to head to the Houston Zoo, where there is always something new to see and experience. This summer is no exception! For the first time ever, two of Houston's most prominent nonprofit organizations, The Houston Zoo and Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) have pulled their talents and resources together to bring patrons the best of both worlds in their production of AVENUE ZOO. Taking place at the Houston Zoo and utilizing Houston's local talent, AVENUE ZOO is an opportunity for zoo-goers and musical theatre lovers to see some top quality singing, dancing, and puppetry while learning about some different animals. To give us a deeper look, Chance Sanford, Houston Zoo's VP of Education took time out of his busy schedule to talk about the partnership between the Zoo and TUTS and what audience members can expect from AVENUE ZOO.

Her new one-woman play, 'Love and Light' that will be performed at the Touch Art & Craft Gallery in Cambridge tonight, June 1st and Sunday June 2nd at 7:00 p.m. details the story of Celine who has had a (fictional) one-night-stand with her guru Bikram Choudhury, the founder of the widely-followed hot yoga technique.

In a quite extraordinary way Stephen Sachs' world premiere comedy/drama Heart Song tears down barriers separating life and death across many cultures. There is no finer celebration of the joys and pains of life than performing flamenco dance, which is gut wrenching and intensely theatrical. Boasting top-notch direction from Shirley Jo Finney and a resplendent cast, Heart Song is a life-affirming poem that must be experienced at the Fountain Theatre through July 14.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) announced additional casting today for the 2013 season of free Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte. This summer, all performances for THE COMEDY OF ERRORS and LOVE'S LABOUR'S LOST, A NEW MUSICAL will begin at 8:30 p.m. with running times of approximately 90 minutes, no intermission.

The laughs keep coming to TV One with the return of Love That Girl!, a half-hour comedy series chronicling the life and times of Imunique Jefferson and Delroy Jones, and the crazy, but loving bond that makes them not just colleagues, but family. Production is scheduled to begin May 2013 with an anticipated premiere date in fall 2013.

Performances of Freckleface Strawberry The Musical run Saturday, June 8th at the George Street Playhouse and Saturday, June 15th at the Alexander Kasser Theater, at 11 AM and 2 PM. James Rocco is the vice president of programming and producing artistic director of the Ordway Center for Performing Arts in Saint Paul, Minn. He is also the director, host and a performer in the Ordway's latest edition of BROADWAY SONGBOOK, this time, focusing on American musical theatre master, Cole Porter.
